So depressed by the lack of interesting boys names!

Due in 9 weeks, and every boys name I hear bores me to tears!

Not interested in cutesy little boy names (Alfie/Archie/Charlie) and absolutely no 'Thomas the Tank Engine' names (Edward, Henry, James, etc).

Impress me with something a wee bit different!

I had this problem. Always wanted to have two girls Violet and Lilac, but ended up with two boys.

We really struggled but ended up with Lawson and Toby, which I love.

EDD 4th Nov!
I was thinking about Theodore again last night, and I really think I need to try & persuade DH... It's a great name! Great nicknames, good for a baby or an adult, not too run of the mill... And good to know the chipmunk associations aren't an issue Grin
And Theodore James is fab Smile

I'll keep you posted... Wink

Some great names on this thread!

Love Austin, Quentin, Arthur and Magnus. Or how about Fabian?

Coops251 · 03/09/2014 12:44

My son is Holden Cooper. We struggled to find an unusual boys name too, think a girl would have been easier!

I'm currently pregnant with baby 2 and don't yet know what it is!

Just adding

Jupiter (sounds a bit like Juniper?)
Cosmo
Obadiah (Obi - so cute)

Could also have Jed for Josiah like President Bartlet :)

Some brilliant suggestions!! Am 38 so many of these already have associations both adults and children.....It's sooo hard!!!

Is Duncan cool these days? What about Sandy (short for Alexander)?

We'll probably end up naming him something really simple, after all this wonderful effort!!!

butternut22 · 04/09/2014 14:19

Oban

newrecruit · 04/09/2014 14:33

That East London list reminded me why I do t live there anymore!

Keir Hardy was the first Labour M.P. - I think you would have to be a bit of a leftie to get away with it.

My rules were no names that were primarily a)surnames or b) dogs. So no Buster, Mungo, Fletcher or Cooper.

I know a lovely Beau and an Otto
