Asa or Arlo?

Thought I had decided, but I'm second guessing myself again Hmm

To go with ds Eli.

I know that Asa is used as a girls name in Sweden (well think its Sweden Blush ) This does NOT BOTHER us at all, as far as we are concerned its an Old Testament biblical boys name Grin

I know some people think Arlo is of the moment this does NOT BOTHER us either, we are in Ireland and its unheard of here really.

So please don't let either of these things sway you either way Wink

Girls name is sorted, she will be Jemima.

Arlo

ChristianGreysSkiddyGruts · 05/08/2014 17:55

If you don't mind the popularity, I'd go with Arlo. Asa is really cool too though.

LynetteScavo · 05/08/2014 17:58

I don't know of any Arlos...just how popular is it?

beccajoh · 05/08/2014 17:59

How are you pronouncing Asa? I though Ass-A or Ay-sa. Arse-A? Too many similarities with Ass or Arse for my liking.

Arlo is nice.

DitzyDonkey · 05/08/2014 18:01

Asa is pronounced Ace ah! I'm going to look up popularity of both just to know! Back in a min unless ipad dies!

Asa. Eli and Asa go very well together.

Alisvolatpropiis · 05/08/2014 18:07

I'd go with Asa.

Arlo is an anagram of oral and that would bother me, given how unkind teenagers can be. It is a nice name though.

Incapinka · 05/08/2014 18:26

Arlo!

doziedoozie · 05/08/2014 18:32

Why not Aysa, makes pronunciation clearer

ChristianGreysSkiddyGruts · 05/08/2014 18:59

Choosing (or not choosing) a name because of the way its letters can be rearranged is (quite frankly) bonkers!

Squirm · 05/08/2014 19:01

I know of 3 Arlos born in the last year. It is going to be huge I think.

If popularity bothers you, go for Asa.

DitzyDonkey · 05/08/2014 19:07

Hmm it will be interesting to see the stats for Arlo when they cone out later this month! I know it's having a bit of a revival in America also.

Though at 247th it isn't in any way overused, however if there is a huge leap again this year it may make me rethink!

Isn't Lee Mack's lad called Arlo? It's a cool name Smile
There are too many ways to pronounce Asa, it's nice though.

FamiliesShareGerms · 05/08/2014 19:13

Asa

Alisvolatpropiis · 05/08/2014 19:14

I have been known to overthink things Christian Blush

FamiliesShareGerms · 05/08/2014 19:14

Though my phone did try to autocorrect Asa to Ass...

DoItTooJulia · 05/08/2014 19:15

Well I've got both, so I couldn't choose! Great taste Wink

DitzyDonkey · 05/08/2014 19:15

There is only one proper way to pronounce Asa....but I know what you mean re people butchering it with incorrect pronunciations!

I don't know who Lee Mack is...off to google!

Alisvolatpropiis Grin

My SIL's name is Lana ... I must ask her if anyone ever teased her at school!

DitzyDonkey · 05/08/2014 19:18

Oooh DoItTooJulia you have FANTASTIC taste!!! Do you get nice reactions to the names? Also do you get the pronounciation issues with Asa?

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 05/08/2014 19:23

You again?
Still not Arlo. Eli and Arlo still sound terrible together.

DoItTooJulia · 05/08/2014 19:28

Oh everyone is lovely to my face .....

zazie7 · 05/08/2014 19:31

I agree with Ehric, Eli and Arlo don't sound good together at all. If it is one or the other I would choose Asa. (btw the Swedish girl's name Ã…sa is prounounced totally differently, more like AW-sa)
