Which one would you choose?

I really like Alice and Rose but can't seem to choose which one I like more. I'm not keen on Alice Rose together as Rose seems a popular with hyphenated names and everyone will assume her name is Alice-Rose. Which one would you choose for a first name Alice or Rose?

I'd park them both and see which one fits better when baby arrives. If it helps, I imagine an Alice as fair and a Rose as dark but that's just me.

They are both lovely simple names.

Alice
It's classic and lovely

There are a lot of Roses out there especially as a middle name.

Sophronia · 30/07/2014 16:35

Rose. It's so popular as a middle name but underused as a first name.

juliascurr · 30/07/2014 16:37

Rose but both are lovely

ApocalypseNowt · 30/07/2014 16:38

Alice Smile

Alice

rootypig · 30/07/2014 16:40

Rose! definitely underused as a first name and just beautiful.

DramaAlpaca · 30/07/2014 16:51

I'm no help because I really love them both. I'd have liked to use one or both of them, but couldn't use either because they don't work with our surname. Fortunately, I had boys so it didn't matter Smile

If you pushed me to choose, I'd say Alice.

ShovettyMcShovetty · 30/07/2014 17:06

Rose by a slight margin I think. Love Alice too though.

Both are lovely.

You'll know when you see her. Smile

TheTerribleBaroness · 30/07/2014 19:42

Alice

Those were the names we took into the delivery room and had the exact same thoughts as you about having Alice rose.

We have an Alice Margaret as we thought it suited her when she arrived.

Gorgeous names Grin

Rose

Hmm That I'm not allowed any more dc, Rose would be a strong contender for a dd.

lljkk · 30/07/2014 19:52

Rose. I barely have ever met any & it's prettier.

Pandora452 · 30/07/2014 19:56

Alice by a fraction, but spelt Alys for me :)

BikeRunSki · 30/07/2014 20:01

I know a 10 year old Alice (first name) Rose (middle name). I don't think she's ever been confused as an Alice-Rose.

picnicbasketcase · 30/07/2014 20:03

I like Rose a lot more than Alice. It's the 'lice' part that puts me off, even though it's not pronounced like that. It's like the way I don't like Isobel because it has 'sob' in it. Maybe just me though.

So anyway.. Rose. Smile

PestoSurfissimos · 30/07/2014 20:04

Alice

Itsfab · 30/07/2014 20:05

People won't assume it is Alice-Rose if you don't put a hyphen when you write it and if people ask if it has a hyphen you say no.

Happy36 · 30/07/2014 20:08

I like Alice Rose but see your point about hyphenating.

You could choose either as a first name and the other as a middle name and call her by the first name?

I love both names and can't choose a favourite - sorry! In my limited experience Rose is less popular.

MummyAngharad · 30/07/2014 21:14

Although Alice is a lovely name, I would choose Rose as it is so beautiful and simple yet underused as a first name so very refreshing.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/07/2014 22:29

Alice

AlwaysOneMissing · 30/07/2014 22:31

Alice, definitely. I don't like Rose, sorry.

BunnyLebowski · 30/07/2014 22:32

Rose. It's gorgeous.

I find Alice extremely insipid.
