Kurtis Frederick Coughlin.

What do you think? :)

Why change the first letter of an otherwise perfectly adequate name?

KoalaDownUnder · 03/07/2014 12:21

Definitely Curtis, not Kurtis.

GiniCooper · 03/07/2014 12:21

Curtis.

goshdarnit · 03/07/2014 12:21

KFC. It might not work out well...

dollius · 03/07/2014 12:23

Names starting with K aren't allowed on MN. You'll have to leave.

puthyjip43 · 03/07/2014 12:23

Not with a k.. Curtis is lovely

donnie · 03/07/2014 12:25

KFC ? really?

Uber -chavtastic. It's up there with 'Klay' and 'Karleigh' I'm afraid. You did ask Wink

PeterParkerSays · 03/07/2014 12:30

Sorry, it's horrible.

Choccyhobnob · 03/07/2014 13:19

I prefer the traditional spelling with a C. Also means he avoids a lifetime of chicken jokes Smile

bac1985 · 03/07/2014 13:21

Curtis Frederick Coughlin any better?

OP posts:
Floggingmolly · 03/07/2014 13:22

Not much, no.

ElizabethMedora · 03/07/2014 13:28

Curtis is not one of my favourite names but it is nicer with the C spelling. If you love it that's what matters! Just feels a bit 80s to me. I do know another 2 yr old one tho!

squoosh · 03/07/2014 13:50

I'm sure there are lots of Germans called Kurtis.

Initials KFC aren't great though.

peggylane · 03/07/2014 14:13

I grew up in Germany and there are NO Germans called Kurtis I'm afraid. Kurt, however, was a popular first name a few generations ago.

Biscuitsneeded · 03/07/2014 14:16

It's not a nice name whichever way I look at it, but on balance better with a C.
Germans might be called Kurt, never Kurtis.

rachel234 · 03/07/2014 14:20

Curtis is much nicer!

And Kurt is the German name, pronounced Koort.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 03/07/2014 14:20

I know of two Curtis' (no Kurtis') - both are teenagers, roughly 16ish, and both have a brother called Mitchell.

I can't say that I particularly like or dislike the name myself - but it was definitely more popular back in the 90s & goes with names like Jordan, Tiffany, Shannon, Shelby etc. etc.

squoosh · 03/07/2014 14:25

Okay, I take it back, there are NO German Kurtis'!

smokedgarlic · 03/07/2014 14:31

Curtis is amazing . I love it . If you don't want it I do !

bac1985 · 03/07/2014 14:39

Maybe just Kurt and add a second middle name so its not KFC :)

donnie · 03/07/2014 14:55

CFC is just as bad - as in the aerosols Hmm

Gingerjv · 03/07/2014 15:02

Curtis is a wonderful name! But not Kurtis) Is this the only option for name? maybe try others to avoid KFC)

bac1985 · 03/07/2014 15:05

I don't want to get too concerned about initials.

I've never heard of CFC aerosols. But thanks for spotting it :)

OP posts:
squoosh · 03/07/2014 15:08

CFC is nowhere near as bad as KFC.

rachel234 · 03/07/2014 15:22

CFC is absolutely fine! It's not like POO or LOO, in fact I had no idea what aerosols are and, more importantly that they're known as CFC.

Middle names are SO rarely used anyway.
