What do you think of Ellyse?

And do you think Rose would be a nice middle name?

I'm not sure how to pronounce it?

I have seen Elyse, a variant spelling of Elise, but I think Ellyse is a bit more unusual.

I would use Elise, which is a lovely name.

I wouldn't know how to pronounce it either. I know an Elise, but think that the double L might change the pronunciation to Ellis.

I also wouldn't know how to pronounce it. I think you'd be forever correcting people.

Like the name, hate the way you're spelling it. Rose is nice, but every other girl I know has Rose as a middle name.

I think it would be better if you stuck with Elise, or Elyse if you must, or you will have problems with people not knowing how to say it.

I also think you might need a longer middle name. Elyse Rose is a bit short & blunt.

Elise is OK. Instead of Rose how about Pearl, Wren, Beryl, Blossom, Bluebell, Violet, Iris, Ocean...

So many lovely names and with a middle you can afford to be different.

Likewise - love Elise and, although rose is popular, think it's very pretty. Sorry, I agree that your spelling looks like a made up name and rather odd... People won't know how to pronounce it.

Rose is a bit . It's like it's a 'go to' name for people who cannot think of another one, I've lost count of the middle name Rose's I know (although May is bad too - in DDs class there are 9 girls, 5 of them have the middle name May)

I love Elise and have only ever met one person called that, so quite unusual.
But I'd stick with the traditional spelling and chose different middle name as both end in the same sound. Elise Roseanna? Elise Rosamund?

Rose is a family name so I'm not bothered about it being too popular.

I don't think Ellyse is an unusual spelling? It's my 20 year old SIL's name. She never gets called it though just Ellie so just be aware of that.

'Ellyse' is definitely an unusual spelling. The fact that you know someone with the name just means that it has been used at least once before.

Yes I realise that I'm not thick in just saying she hasn't made it up or imagined it to be a name.

Either way she will be Ellie.

But no-one said she had made it up or imagined it, just that it was unusual and there might be issues with pronunciation and they preferred Elise.

My other 3 girls have names that could be shortened instead we picked nick names and they are either called by their name or nick name not a shortened version of their names.

Ellyse just to call her Ellie sounds a bit forced, tbh, whether you know one or not.

I thought 'Ellie' did the rounds madly a few years ago and was avoided now due to the plethora of 'Ellie's that will be a few year's ahead in school?
