Louise, Ann. 80s. First names- Louise, Emma, Jane.

50s; I didn't know many of my friends' middle names. Where I did know them, it was usually Mary (my own middle name) - we were Catholic.

Louise, my own first name, was pretty much unused as a first or middle name in the 50s. I didn't know any others as a child and thought my name hideous in comparison to the Deborahs, Sheilas, Shirleys, Valeries and Susans who made up most of my peer group

yumyumpoppycat · 20/06/2014 00:41

What I want to know is how can you all remember your friends' middle names so well? Grin Not got the foggiest about most of my friends.

I was in a class of 5 Claires (first names though) a similar number of Richards in my brother's class. (late 70s early 80s)

Mutteroo · 20/06/2014 02:01

70s (again)
Jane, Louise (again!)

MyBaby1day · 20/06/2014 04:35

It was Louise!

singaporeswing · 20/06/2014 04:39

Late 80s. Everyone is either Marie, Louise, Anne, Jane or Elizabeth.

Mine is Elizabeth. My sister's is Marie.

Lots of hyphenated -Louise.

rachel234 · 20/06/2014 06:31

Makes you wonder about the purpose of middle names Wink!

70s Louise, Anne
Now May, Rose

Mumof3xox · 20/06/2014 06:51

Grace / may / Mae / rose are all very popular now

But how about boys!

CheerfulYank · 20/06/2014 06:51

Definitely May/Mae, Rose, and Grace for the babies now. My daughter has Rose Blush

I was born in the early 80's and have Christine myself, but it seems everyone else had Marie.

BabyShake · 20/06/2014 06:55

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 20/06/2014 06:56

I don't remember my friend's middle names, but recall that when I started my degree in 1985 we were given a list of all the students on our course and 7/10 of the female students had the middle name Louise.

I have no idea what middle names any of my DCs (8 and 10) friends have, well just the odd one anyway.

Mumof3xox · 20/06/2014 06:57

I'm thinking for boys now - Thomas / James / George

EnglishRose1320 · 20/06/2014 07:10

Louise or May- mid 80's

24again · 20/06/2014 07:17

My best friend's middle name was Ada. We all took the mick out of her for that! She did have a beautiful first name though.

CheerfulYank · 20/06/2014 07:57

I know a lot of boys now with James. It goes with most things and makes initials not spell anything, same with Rose.

WhereHas1999DissappearedToo · 20/06/2014 07:58

Early 60s, NZ- Louise (mine), Elizabeth, Mary, Jane, Susan.

indie123 · 20/06/2014 09:53

I went to a girls school and a very common middle name in my year group was Louise

BeckaH123 · 20/06/2014 12:10

Elizabeth (80s)

ButterflyOfFreedom · 20/06/2014 12:12

Louise, Elizabeth or Jane.

Paul for a boy.

(1980's).

BeckaH123 · 20/06/2014 12:14

Oh and Mary used to be a popular middle name for boys in Ireland! Bit mean really...

WishItWasSnowingNow · 20/06/2014 12:18

Jane and Elizabeth was most popular in my group of friends (I felt very left out - mine was quite unusual then, but now every little girl seems to have the same middle name as me, so my parents were clearly 30 years ahead of their time - was born in the late 70s)

Floggingmolly · 20/06/2014 12:18

That's true, Beck. My Dad was James Alloysius Mary. He never freely admitted that to anybody. Grin

CatsCantTwerk · 20/06/2014 12:19

Louise 1981
