The 4 most popular boys name in the UK?!

I've never met one personally and have only heard of two in passing.

OP posts:

I know a few Noahs, think it has become pretty common over the past few years so doesn't surprise me it is 4th most popular.

ThingsThatShine · 15/06/2014 10:37

I don't know any Noah's in the uk but I know some American and Aussie ones, think it caught on a bit later here. All the Noah's are probably just babies so it's not yet popular in schools and playgrounds so not heard around that much yet!

Hakluyt · 15/06/2014 10:42

Lots of Noah's round here- it's a bit IslingtonChic, I think!Grin

Montsti · 15/06/2014 10:59

I know quite a few!

EyelinerQueen · 15/06/2014 11:01

It's exceptionally popular here in W. Yorks (along with Reuben for some unknown reason).

And even in my native N.I. You really know a name is passé when it's filtered down to semi-rural Northern Ireland Grin.

kimlo · 15/06/2014 11:04

I know a few, but the oldest I know is about 5. Its one of those names that became popular very quickly.

dietcokeandcadburys · 15/06/2014 11:08

I don't know any apart from the one with the whale. It's definitely a trend. My DD is in year 10 and her year group is full of kids called Ellie, Joe, Tom, Ben, Sam etc, hardly anyone with more 'exotic' names!

PancakesAndMapleSyrup · 15/06/2014 11:08

Dont i know it, we chose it for ds 1 because it wasnt popular, then booof.....loads of them.

Spottybra · 15/06/2014 11:09

Ds was nearly Noah.

Marcipex · 15/06/2014 11:15

I don't know of any at all. All the baby boys I know are called Danny or Finley. Mostly Finn/Finley.

burgatroyd · 15/06/2014 11:18

I know of a few.

justhayley · 15/06/2014 12:30

Number 4 Confused I have a Noah it wasn't at all popular when we named him, I fact it was considered fairly unusual & people commented how different it was. This was just over 2 years ago.
I'm hearing on here it's getting more popular by the hour which I hate, but iv only come across one other and I know lots of toddlers.
Think Megan fox had a Noah which made it popular quite quickly, and I'm betting the recent film will keep it going for a while.
Still think it's a lovely name, I love saying my so s a Noah and it really suits him

lljkk · 15/06/2014 12:56

I know a handful under 8.

HalfPintPickle · 15/06/2014 17:21

I love the name Noah, but I know of one 3 year old and three babies with the name. It does seem to be becoming more popular by the day.

Anjou · 15/06/2014 20:46

I know about 7 Noah's (friends of DS1 or the children of my friends) aged 1-8. That's going from the north of Scotland down to London. Not sure who or what started it (Noah Wyle from ER maybe?), but I consider it 'popular' in the way Liam was 15 or so years ago; going from none to absolutely loads in no time.

Blondieminx · 15/06/2014 20:47

I know 4 Noah's, all between 3yo- 5yo. In Essex.

OddBoots · 15/06/2014 20:57

I know 3 of them under 8.

miffybun73 · 15/06/2014 21:20

I know one Noah.

He's 6.

starlight1234 · 15/06/2014 21:24

I wanted to call my DS Noah..Ex didn't like it

HiawathaDidntBotherTooMuch · 15/06/2014 21:26

The only Noah I know (well, I don't actually know him of course) is Boris Becker's eldest son. I remember really loving the name when he announced it.

Dovahkiin · 16/06/2014 05:53

Yup - tripping over Noahs, Oscars, Reubens and Jakes.

SanityClause · 16/06/2014 06:07

I know of one Noah who is about 3 or 4, and Chris Evans's son in called Noah.

It's a lovely name, but it will be like the Jason of our times - a classic name that really dates.

HopOnMyChooChoo · 16/06/2014 06:10

Blame Chris Evans. It's the celeb effect.
