Shortlist for DC3 and suggestions pretty please

Bicnod · 04/06/2014 12:31

I'm expecting DC3 and DH (as with the last two) is refusing to discuss names with me until a couple of weeks prior to the birth Angry

So I'd be very grateful if you lot could help me get my shortlist together so I can pound him with it closer to the time Smile

I currently have an Oscar Matthew and a James Douglas - don't know if DC3 is a boy or a girl.

Current favourites are:

Boys:

Rafferty (nn Raffy) - I love love love this.
Toby
Jonty - not Jonathan or John, just Jonty - can I do that?
Benjamin (nn Benji)
Jack
Henry - not mad keen but seems to go well with Oscar and James

Girls:

Sadie - I love this - it also has the same meaning as my name which is quite nice
Tabitha (nn Tabby)
Sophie
Emily
Mary

Girls middle names likely to be Alice and Eva (family names) - doesn't matter which order. Not sure on boys middle name.

I'm not mad on any of them except Rafferty (which I suspect I won't get past DH) and Sadie so any similar suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks

Sadie and Henry from your list.

Adding into the mix:

Rex
Leo/Leonard
Sebastian

Phoebe
Freya
Hollie
Megan

Bicnod · 04/06/2014 12:41

Ooo, I quite like Phoebe and Megan.

If I hadn't given DS2 the middle name Douglas then that would be a strong contender...

Dylan?

Nocomet · 04/06/2014 13:01

Eva Alice does have the slight problem of giving you

SEA, PEA etc and other possibilities dependent on your surname.

Your DD may not thank you. I know a COD who doesn't care and a SAM (another derivative of Sadie) who does.

Nocomet · 04/06/2014 13:04

Oh and my choices are Toby and Sadie, Megan or Pheobe.

I like Emily and Sophie, but there are a lot of older ones about. (Meg's too, but I know a very special Meg and have a real soft spot for it)

Bicnod · 04/06/2014 13:14

Dylan nice but I don't love it.

Grin at SEA, PEA - I hadn't thought of that - will have to be Alice Eva in that order then if we use them as middle names!

Ramsay rather than Rafferty?

manicinsomniac · 04/06/2014 18:28

I love Rafferty and Sadie too.

I actually love all the names in your boys' list!
Of the girls I also like Sophie but am less keen on Emily, Tabitha and Mary.

Other suggestions:

Aaron, Benedict, Casper, Edward, Felix, Finley, Harvey, Isaac, Joshua, Jake, Milo, Nathaniel, Nicholas, Raphael, Samuel, Thomas, William, Xavier, Zachary.

Amy, Astrid, Anna, Charlotte, Callie, Cassie, Elodie, Eloise, Erin, Felicity, Georgia, Hannah, Isla, Isabel, Jessica, Juliet, Jasmine, Katie, Lucy, Lydia, Madeleine, Matilda, Natalie, Olivia, Rebecca, Ruby, Rosie, Saskia, Tilly, Thea, Victoria, Zoe.

devoncreamtea · 04/06/2014 18:47

LOve Sadie!

I have a Megan - great name and I don't have a Rafferty, but I do have a Rafe.

I think both Sadie and Megan work with your other dc's. FRom your boys I like Rafferty (but prefer Rafe....!!) and I like Toby too.

Would your dh def not go for Rafferty?

Leeds2 · 04/06/2014 18:52

I like Jack, but didn't it used to be a nickname for James? I also like Harry, as a nickname for Henry, but I would call him Harry!

For girls, I prefer Sadie.

Bicnod · 04/06/2014 20:16

Thanks for all the suggestions Smile

I love Casper, Benedict and Harry for Henry.

I don't think I'm going to like any girls names more than Sadie so think it could be the one.

Is Sadie Alice Eva a bit clunky or ok?

Operation persuade DH that Rafferty is an awesome name began this evening... not going brilliantly but reckon I can grind him down Wink

He laughed out loud when I said Jonty so think that's probably out of the running Sad

manicinsomniac · 05/06/2014 09:26

I think Sadie Alice Eva is lovely. Personally I'd go for Sadie Eva Alice and wouldn't care about the SEA thing (it's hardly a rude word or anything) but either way is fine.

Bicnod · 06/06/2014 19:38

Ok, DH definitely not to be persuaded on Rafferty, so if anyone has some more boys name suggestions I'd love to hear them. Feeling very uninspired...

Amelie
Grace

soontobeslendergirl · 06/06/2014 19:41

Marcus
Miles
Jonah
Peter
Gregory
Austin
Elliot
Lawrence

weatherall · 06/06/2014 19:46

Sadie is good. Not common but everyone knows how to spell it.

Goes well with existing names.

I would avoid giving 2 children the same initial so no to jonty and jack.

Bicnod · 06/06/2014 21:14

I quite like Peter.

Hmmm.

OP posts:
soontobeslendergirl · 06/06/2014 21:15

....or Piers?

Bicnod · 06/06/2014 21:20

Reminds me of Piers Morgan so couldn't go with that

OP posts:
soontobeslendergirl · 06/06/2014 21:23

I never think of him, I know a teen one who isn't posh and plummy, just an everyday boy so I tend to associate it with him now.

Jumblebee · 06/06/2014 21:43

Rafferty and Jonty are a no from me but I love Jack! If DD was a boy we would have used Jack Grin

I'm not too keen on any of your girls names but I like Sadie the least Hmm I love Phoebe and Megan though, that pp mentioned!

Do you think men are just wired differently to women in that they NEVER seem to want to discuss baby names? My DP was the same and never once suggested a name just shot all my suggestions down It still rages me that I said he could have the final say on a girl name because I would not negotiate with Jack. Even though I suggested the name it wasn't my number 1 Confused

Jumblebee · 06/06/2014 21:45

Also apart from Rafferty and Jonty I love your boys names, you have excellent taste Smile

baskingseals · 06/06/2014 22:11

Joel

Rufus

Leo

Frederick

Nicholas

Barnaby

Bicnod · 07/06/2014 11:51

Jumble - it's very frustrating. The most he has engaged is to say NO to Rafferty.

I actually really like Jack. It was a diminutive of John rather than James so could work with my boys.

Plus DS1 wants to call the baby after Jack Jack from The Incredibles Grin

Quite like Joel as well.

Any more suggestions?! Smile

OP posts:
baskingseals · 08/06/2014 22:20

Glad you like Joel. Sympathies about your dh. I have an equally annoying one who would not let me call dc3 Gabriel, no matter how hard I pleaded. Killjoy. Anyway, what about

Laurence

Noah

Arlo

Jem could be short for Jeremy

Kit

Conrad
