DH and I have recently discovered the following name for a girl, and it's become one of our top 2 for a girl but cannot decide on spelling and are after opinions.

Darcie
Darcy
Darcey

For a GIRL not a boy ;-)

I like Darcy the best - but I've no knowledge of how the name should be spelled for a girl.

I'd use D'Arcy for a boy (I think) because that the traditional spelling?

Go for whatever is traditional for a girl. Someone will come along soon and know what that is. -Helpful-

middle one - Darcy.

My cousin has just had a baby with that name- Darcey

It was on the short list for my dd- Darcy

It depends if your happy to be 'Darc(e)y with/ without the e' instead of just the name!

HavantGuard · 01/06/2014 21:42

In 2012 (most recent available stats) in England and Wales

632 baby girls were named Darcey
528 were named Darcy
476 were named Darcie

The highest used version for boys was Darcy but only 27 boys were named that.

Whatever spelling you use, in her generation it's going to be most commonly used for girls.

I have a 4yo Darcey. With the e. We thought that would be more familiar to people with the ballet dancer.

And no apostrophe (I'm looking at you Aunty Eileen).

No matter how you spell it, people will spell it their own way on cards and things

Do you have a preference as to the spelling op? Does one look better with your surname on paper or is there someone called Darc(ey/ie) your family and friends are already familiar with? Would you want them to be the same or different? --I think I'd just move on.. I've lo

beanynamechange · 02/06/2014 07:09

I think is just move on from it.. I've looked at it too many times and every variation now looks funny!!

I thought the extra 'e' was supposed to be the female version.

OP, avoid the angst and call her Anna like a good MNer Grin

Until I read the comment above I loved it Wink
