Id never considered this name before but DH mentioned it last night and im thinking on it.

He has suggested barely any names, and this is by far the nicest on his list (of Chloe, Jess, Luna). However he refuses to make proper suggestions til the anomoly scan next week and hopefully finding out the sex.

The Harry Potter connection I quite like, as DDs first and middle names are both from books I loved as a child so itd be nice to have a HP name in there somewhere.

Is it too popular? It also is quite different to names on my shirtlist (Olive, Norah). Surname Cavendish.

I'm sorry, I just automatically think lunatic.

bouncingbelle · 31/05/2014 12:46

Norah and Jess are both gorgeous however!

scarletforya · 31/05/2014 12:47

I really don't like it. It reminds me of the word 'loony' which I know is offensive.

Besides that, it's just not a pleasant sound.

EyelinerQueen · 31/05/2014 12:48

I love it.

No idea what the Harry Potter connection is but it makes me think of luna being the spanish for moon and I like nature/astrology/slightly hippy names Smile.

Also love Nora (no H). Both sound great with your surname.

WolfMoon · 31/05/2014 14:08

I love it, it's unusual without being completely bizarre. Very pretty!

ThaneOfScunthorpe · 31/05/2014 14:10

Gorgeous name. Personally I don't think loony, I think moon.

KoalaDownUnder · 31/05/2014 14:14

My mind always fills in '...tic' when I hear 'Luna'.

And I'm tired of all the Luna Nina Mara Mira Mala Mila Lola names. I used to like them, but they're all getting a bit samey.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 31/05/2014 16:44

Mmn it is in that style which I dont normally like but am finding it so hard to find a name we both agree on.

It's the name of one of Frank Lampard's daughters isn't it? That would automatically put me off.
Doesn't seem like a proper name to me anyway. Sorry.

Buttercup27 · 31/05/2014 17:21

I really like it and think it's really pretty BUT sorry for being a bit of a HE geek but in the book luna was teased and called loony lovegood. That would be my only apprehension. I do like it though!

Buttercup27 · 31/05/2014 17:22

Oops bloody auto correct that's meant to say HP not he.

LynetteScavo · 31/05/2014 17:26

I like the style of the name Luna...Juno, etc. But it makes me think of lunatic. I also think of moon, but that's where lunatic comes from, isn't it?

LynetteScavo · 31/05/2014 17:27

But it's way, way nicer than Chloe, or even Jess. Smile

Nunyabiz · 31/05/2014 17:34

Luna'tic' for me too. Sorry. But I liked the Juno suggestion up thread.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 31/05/2014 17:41

I really like Juno but DH is very sensible boring in his name choices. I was shocked when he OK'd dds name.

I really dont like Jess.....its Postman Pats cat fgs

Nunyabiz · 31/05/2014 17:58

I've noticed a huge resurgence in Jess/Jessica lately. I do not get the appeal- but it's very 'my era'. I think I went to school with about 4.

burgatroyd · 31/05/2014 18:36

How about Lumi, Finnish name for snow?

Don't understand fascination with Nora. Am I missing something? Sounds like gnaw, a frumpy name alongside the likes of Bertha or Glenda. Prefer Luna to Nora.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 31/05/2014 19:34

Dh has just suggested Ivy.

Honestly my bloody husband. Now he cant even keep.to one style of name, just making suggestions all over the shop.

What about Hermione? Beautiful name and from HP.

Busymumto3dc · 31/05/2014 20:19

Luna is lovely, as is Juno

I really like Nova

butterfliesinmytummy · 31/05/2014 20:29

My dog is called Luna .... She gets called Lunatic and Looney Tunes but it's quite appropriate in her case.....

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 31/05/2014 20:47

Hernione is just too long for dhs tastes. Less letters the better

Surprising myself in doing so, but I'm really really liking it OP!!
The HP association is the first thing I think, rather than looney etc.

(also playing guessing games with myself about what your DD could be called now - having great fun!)

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 31/05/2014 21:28

Haha let me know when you cave and want telling!
