Ocean or Oceans?

Which name do you prefer for baby girl or are they too out there? Met baby Ocean and loved the name even though had dismissed it previously when I read it in name book so perhaps works better when said out loud. Thoughts welcome.

Oh dear. neither for me. Sorry!

oldiebutnctoday · 12/05/2014 17:43

Sorry but both of them make me goHmm Oceana slightly less so maybe ..........

mrssmooth · 12/05/2014 17:44

Erm.. neither of them make me think of a baby girl. A cruise ship, yes, but not a baby. [sorry]

sonlypuppyfat · 12/05/2014 17:44

I know a teenage ocean and sorry I think it's silly.

burgatroyd · 12/05/2014 17:48

Do you mind me asking why its silly?

Oceana sounds like a Swimming pool complex, don't do it op..

onlywhenitsraininginmadrid · 12/05/2014 17:56

Reminds me of the chain of nightclubs called Oceana.

What about Ophelia?

burgatroyd · 12/05/2014 18:00

Not too sure about Ophelia, too tragic. However sound of Ophelia is beautiful. I like the sound of the word, oooo-shun, if that makes sense. Anything like Ophelia or Ocean?

I liked it when I was a teenager and East 17's Tony Mortimer named his daughter Ocean. Enough said I think.

girliefriend · 12/05/2014 18:10

For me its way too out there and not a word I would consider to be a name iyswim.

What about Oliva? Smile

onlywhenitsraininginmadrid · 12/05/2014 18:10

Sorry, it's a no from me too....

Can I ask why you like the name?

IsabellaRockerfeller · 12/05/2014 18:18

No to both of them.

It's a sea or a cruise ship.

burgatroyd · 12/05/2014 18:24

Its the sound chottie!

Fania
Fabia
Flavia

I have known three people with these names!

Oceana, to me, is preferable to Ocean, but is still the name of a cruise ship to me.

What about Coral? Slightly more mainstream!

SnakeyMcBadass · 12/05/2014 18:25

Roisin?

Reminds me of the welsh name Osian but that's a boys name x sorry not helping x

catwithflowers · 12/05/2014 18:27

Ophelia is lovely. Ocean or Oceana is a no from me I'm afraid, for all the reasons above.

Vijac · 12/05/2014 18:30

Maybe Oceana (though Otis a dodgy nightclub) but really too out there even for my love of unusual names.

EvilTwins · 12/05/2014 18:35

What about Oksana? DNeice has a friend called that.

Theas18 · 12/05/2014 18:35

Do you mean Osian/Ossian?

Ocean is just ripe for name calling and just not nice " Ocean.........Wild and wet?" etc

EvilTwins · 12/05/2014 18:37

Or Oxana. Russian meaning "hospitable"
