Emiliana, Beatrice or Annabelle.

Just found out we're having dd2 (already have DS and dd1).

What do you think of the following:

Emiliana (nn. Emmy)
Beatrice (nn. Bea or Bebe)
Annabel/Annabelle (nn. Anna)

I cannot have Amelia/Emilia or Arabella/Annabella/Isabella/Isabelle, Charlotte, Olivia, Genevieve.

DH will let me choose but he has said he likes Emily...I like it but don't love it and know quite a few. I am a bit meh about Annabel and don't love Anna and can't use Belle as a nn....

Please rate names and also let me know if you can think of any other options.

Thanks!

Annabel but I like Emmeline

Kundry · 25/04/2014 22:17

If ever I have a DD she will be called Emu Loans.

Pregnantberry · 25/04/2014 22:20

I agree with pp. asking why not consider just going with Anna? I think it will work much better on an adult than Annabelle which sounds too frilly for me, I'm afraid. It also would sound out of place if your DD turns out to be a tomboy IYSWIM.

I think similar about Beatrice.

Emiliana sounds nice, but I agree with others that it is so rare that a lot of people will think that you made it up.

Onyabike · 25/04/2014 22:22

Yes, I agree Kundry, Emu Loans is lovely, although I'd worry there may be 4 others with the same name in her class!

UnderthePalms · 25/04/2014 22:34

Love Emmeline. Emiliana is a bit OTT. Emu Loans = good choice

UnderthePalms · 25/04/2014 22:35

Op doesn't like Anna

Twooter · 25/04/2014 23:48

Emiliana is a bit too close to Emilia - wouldn't be impressed if my dsis called a child something as similar

Nestabee · 25/04/2014 23:50

Annabel

HandragsNGladbags · 26/04/2014 01:04

We have an Amelia and a William, our DD2 is Claudia.

Don't like Emiliana, too much of a mouthful

Montsti · 26/04/2014 07:13

Sounds like I would get irritated often with people mispronouncing Emmeline particularly as I dislike 2 of the pronounciations...

Although I am not actually Italian, I have spent a lot of time there and speak the language fluently so maybe that's why Emiliana doesn't sound so silly to my ears - it sounds very feminine and romantic to me...I didn't use it for dd1 for a reason though, I suppose...

I think Beatrice is the frontrunner at the moment but more suggestions/opinions welcome!

I couldn't work out how to say Emiliana, the Ana bit seems not needed.

And I would pronounce Emmeline with 'line' on the end. Amelia?

Willabywallaby · 26/04/2014 07:20

Sorry just reread you have niece called Emilia.

Beatrice is nice. I prefer Beatrix but only because I think it's a bit more quirky.

BellaOfTheBalls · 26/04/2014 07:20

Emiliana (my phone has just autocorrected to Embolisms...) is too much and I agree with PP, it's very similar Emelia.

I would go with Beatrice out of your options, I'm really not a fan of Annabelle. Evangeline is lovely.

oohdaddypig · 26/04/2014 07:25

Agree that Emiliana sounds....odd. Like you mixed a few names up.

I like Beatrice NN trixie. I've never like Annabelle as I think it's a doll's name but I'm the only person I know who doesn't like it.

Essel · 26/04/2014 07:29

I love beatrice, but how would it be pronounced - beer-trice or bee-a-trice?

Montsti · 26/04/2014 07:36

I think Evangeline is a pretty name but a bit too out there for me and doesn't go with my other children's names.

Beatrix is lovely but Beatrice works better for me. I love Bea and Bebe.

Essel - I think those 2 pronounciations sound very similar - bee-a-trice sounds prettier though if that makes sense...

What about Ariana?

Montsti · 26/04/2014 07:44

Ariana is very pretty but a bit too unusual compared to my other children's names. Not keen on the inevitable nns either - I know a few Aris - all Jewish men and Ana/Anna a bit dull IMO.

Thanks for the suggestion though!

Not Emiliana if your niece is Emilia.

Liana?

JugglingChaotically · 26/04/2014 07:45

Emiliana v similar to Emilia.
Beatrice lovely as is Bea
I'd pronounce Emma line.

Though DD2 and DD3 have nick names and I'm not side how many know their real names!!

DaffodilsandTruffles · 26/04/2014 08:05

Of your list I prefer Beatrice

What about:

Annalina
Clara
Mathilda
Sarah
Catherine
Elizabeth

MairzyDoats · 26/04/2014 08:11

What about Marianne or Marianna? I actually like Emiliana but I think that's because of the singer (Torini).

Wishfulmakeupping · 26/04/2014 08:17

Annabel but spelt with just 1 'L' is the best name by far if I have another dd in the future its on the short list I love it

ChristopherRobin · 26/04/2014 08:19

I have an Annabel so I love that name. Also love Beatrice and Emmeline, but agree Emiliana sounds name up and is a bit of a mouthful, I'd have to concentrate if I saw it written down to know how to pronounce it! I hadn't thought of Emmeline with DD, but will put it on my list for Dd2 now!

How about Evelyn nn Evie?

mrsbug · 26/04/2014 08:47

Florence?
