Jane as a first name

I'm loving Jane at the moment. Do you think Jane Eyre, Jane Austen or Plain Jane Superbrain?

Also struggling with a middle name as everything sounds back to front e.g. Jane Emily should be Emily Jane, Jane Laura should be Laura Jane.

Surname is 2 syllables, begins with P. Older sister is a Sarah. We're not exactly adventurous.

Any thoughts?

I like it. Classic and unusual (currently).

JimmyCorkhill · 13/04/2014 09:31

Love it might be my middle name!

Simple, classic and underused.

I like it with a 3 syllable middle name eg. Jane Elizabeth.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 13/04/2014 09:33

its like Rose - makes a Meh middle name but a marvellous first name.

ratqueen · 13/04/2014 10:18

Love Jane and love Sarah!

AreWeThereYeti · 13/04/2014 10:30

I love it. It's my middle name but I often use it as my first name.

I think its fab.

highlove · 13/04/2014 10:38

I like it - unusual for a baby these days. I also think it calls for a longer middle name - Victoria, Elizabeth, Imogen, Isobel, Annabel, Rebecca.

AnnabelleDarling · 13/04/2014 10:48

I like it, I know a little Jane, nn Janey. V unusual these days

Nocomet · 13/04/2014 11:19

Jane, Zzzzzzzz
Sorry my DDs have very simple classic names, but Jane is the dullest flatest name on the planet.

You just can't say Hi I'm Jane, without it being an anticlimax.

Driveway · 13/04/2014 12:20

I think it's a great name. Not showy, confident in itself.

It's a bit boring.

MrsJohnDeere · 13/04/2014 12:46

Dull.

I have it as a middle name (along with 99% of people my age) and loathe it!

fairnotfair · 13/04/2014 12:47

Love it.

joanofarchitrave · 13/04/2014 12:52

Adore it.

Nice with a season name, or a family surname/male relative name?

Jane Winter
Jane Howard

ChickenMe · 13/04/2014 12:59

I love it. Underused. Lovely name IMO.

WhereHas1999DissappearedToo · 13/04/2014 13:00

It's dull, meh and dated, sorry.

Lovely and very uncommon, is less popular than Favour, Janelle, Isadora, Seraphina and Gaia hardly popular names and yet everyone will be able to say and spell it, what more could you want in a name?

A longer middle name balances it out. I'd rethink if your surname is one syllable or very common though, Jane Jones or Jane Smith could be a bit much.

Jellaby · 13/04/2014 16:30

I think it is gorgeous, understated chic. Like Kate.

exWifebeginsat40 · 13/04/2014 16:33

Timeandtune · 13/04/2014 16:39

I really like Jane :)

Nocomet · 13/04/2014 19:03

If you don't say it with a forced smile, which makes you look silly, it just sort of falls away into nothing.

pilates · 13/04/2014 19:04

I like it
