Clara or Mabel?

Siblings are Elsa and Arthur.

Quite like that Mabel doesn't end in 'a' as the others do (or sound as if they do), but it's a bit Marmitey, isn't it? Or too trendy .... We are not trendy...

I like Mabel. Or Maple, even - I know one.

Or how about Margot?

Flowerface · 10/04/2014 13:52

Clara, I love Martha too, but I have an Arthur, so surely not...?!

Elsa's BF is called Miriam, my sister is called Mary. Both very nice, but taken...

Clara, by a long long long long way.

Clarabumps · 10/04/2014 13:57

Ah right enough, I forgot about Arthur. Sorry I didn't read that through there. I love Elsa. I love Margot as well. x

Flowerface · 10/04/2014 14:09

But would she be called Maggot at school?

We have very similar tastes in names as one of my DC has the same name as one of yours, and both Clara and Mabel were both on my list for DD.

I also like Cecilia and Mirabelle.

SundayMorningComingDown · 10/04/2014 14:18

Constance or Irene. Not Mabel. Never Mabel. Or Doris!!

mrsbug · 10/04/2014 14:21

Megan?

Driveway · 10/04/2014 14:22

What about Rose with Rosalind for the long version? Or just Rose.
Elsa Arthur and Rose.

mrsbug · 10/04/2014 14:22

Or margery (old lady name revived by game of thrones)

Flowerface · 10/04/2014 14:28

Elsa's middle name is Rose...

For some reason DH rejects Megan, which I really like.

I like Gretel and Megan. But not as much as Mabel or Clara.

cupofteaplease · 10/04/2014 18:15

I have a 6 year old Mabel. She is pretty cute.

My nickname for her is Doris and she laments the fact it's not her real name- she would love to be called Doris Confused

NancyinCali · 10/04/2014 18:26

I love Clara and want to use it for DD2 but we live in the US where they pronounce it Clair-a which I don't like :(
Anyway, yes I'd choose Clara Grin

mejon · 10/04/2014 18:29

I like both - I have a Mabli - which is the Welsh version Mabel.

upyourninja · 10/04/2014 18:31

Wuxiapian · 10/04/2014 18:32

Mabel is lovely.

MrsBungle · 10/04/2014 18:37

I really like Mabel. I love Clara.

Shock at Mavis, maud and Doris. And BRENDA! Good god.

Flowerface · 10/04/2014 18:52

DH says he prefers Clara to Mabel so if I decide to listen to him then I guess we will go with that...

I did think about Mirabel but I wonder if it's a bit over the top? Both in sound and a bit stand in awe before my miraculous child?

How about Margaux, like the wine?

My Granny's middle name too brokenhearted and she hated it!

maggiethemagpie · 10/04/2014 21:49

Another vote for Clara here. I think it is becoming more popular recently

maggiethemagpie · 10/04/2014 21:50

Isn't Mirabel a ski resort? oh no, that's meribel I think.
