I don't know why, i just really like this name and am considering it as a potential name for dc2, ( although only 15 weeks so don't know if it is a boy or a girl yet.)

Thing is, i've had very negative reactions from friends, who say it is very chav.

Anybody want to tell me my friends are wrong and its a lovely name, or is it back to the drawing board ?

Sorry I can't say it's a name that sits easy with me, but I'm a stranger on an Internet forum!

If you like it go for it!

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 31/03/2014 00:24

makes me think of wine glasses!... How about Christabel? Or Christina?

Clearlymisunderstood · 31/03/2014 00:25

Sorry but It reminds me of a stripper. If you love it then you have to love it regardless of what others think.

Pantone363 · 31/03/2014 00:27

Nay

And that's from someone who is quite Chav themselves

Devora · 31/03/2014 00:29

How about Christa?

bloodybutunbowed · 31/03/2014 00:33

This is one of those names I really like - but secretly! Sadly it has connotations Hmm Such a shame. I think it's really pretty.

Blueberrybaby · 31/03/2014 00:40

Sorry it's a bit Playboy bunny for me. At least the spelling is correct. I knew a Krystle once and that's worse. I think Crystal Carrington was actually a nice character in Dynasty the TV show and not remotely stripperish if that helps.

LackaDAISYcal · 31/03/2014 00:42

Nay...Christa is lovely though!

NigellasDealer · 31/03/2014 00:42

I have known two Crystals and its a lovely name

Devora · 31/03/2014 00:44

Go on, OP - Christa after the great East German writer Christa Wolf. You know you want to!

eightandthreequarters · 31/03/2014 00:47

Listen to your friends.

Onesleeptillwembley · 31/03/2014 01:32

Crystal lives in a trailer and aspires to work at hooters.

I'd spell it Krystle and insist on her wearing be-sequinned babygros only.

And if anyone made any rude comments about her name I'd grab them by their massive hair and brawl all the way down the stairs of my fabulous mansion depositing them in the fountain.

alita7 · 31/03/2014 14:22

Sounds chavy to me sorry.

Emma028 · 31/03/2014 15:22

Agreed - Christa or Cristael instead? If it does not bother you want others think of the name, then go for Crystal! Grin Personally, I prefer more old-fashioned names.

Scoobyblue · 31/03/2014 15:26

Another no here too. Sorry!!!

clippityclop · 31/03/2014 15:29

Christy?

Catsmamma · 31/03/2014 15:31

so long as your surname is not Chandelier.

HyvaPaiva · 31/03/2014 15:31

No, sorry.

EyelinerQueen · 31/03/2014 15:32

I love retro names but Crystal is retro in a bad way.

Just tacky and 80's and naff without any appeal or charm.

Needaninsight · 31/03/2014 15:33

Incredibly chavvy, but I knew a gorgeous little girl called Krystal. She was from a 'chavvy' background, but didn't stop her being gorgeous!

Your call. Although I think Christina would be a better option

DramaAlpaca · 31/03/2014 15:33

How about the French version, Christelle?

It sounds much classier.

BlueSkySunnyDay · 31/03/2014 15:44

Sorry - stripper or hooker to me

Agree the french version is nice.
