Middle name help - OH wants it to be some kind of 'musical' name?

I'm 31 weeks pregnant with a little girl - first name will probably be Cleo, but need middle name help.

My OH completely loves music and wants a middle name that means something connected to music/lyrics/sound, and we can't come up with anything not too odd. At the moment the contenders are Lyra or Sonata, but not really convinced by either. Any help much appreciated!

It's a difficult one as if you aren't careful she could end up sounding like a type of car, especially with cleo as first name.

MyNameIsKenAdams · 20/03/2014 21:34

My first thought was Allegra.

What type of music does he like or play? Because it seems odd to have a generic musical name, but maybe helpful to have one that is very specific - eg related to a specific composer, or a style, or a song.

ilovewoollyandtig · 20/03/2014 21:45

OH was initially put off by the car connection with Cleo, but we haven't found another name we like so at the moment it looks like 'the one' for first name.

Hadn't really thought about how much more car-like it sounds with an abstract middle name though......food for thought.

I like Melody but it has been ruled out by husband. Grace is middle name of my other daughter.

Allegra is the one I like the most from the suggestions above. But now I say it together Cleo Allegra is definitely reminding me of a wee 3 door car for nipping about the town. Nightmare!

He plays piano and loves a lot of classical pieces - fave would be mozart's requiem (jolly I know!).

But he's also super into acoustic guitar and sings/writes his own stuff just for relaxing.

As I'm typing this out I am realising just how odd it sounds as criteria for a name.

Cadence
Philomel, Philomela (lover of music, nightingale)
Lark, also Merle (= blackbird) , Mavis (= song thrush), Linnet (a songbird) etc
Carol, Carola, Caroline etc
Carmen (= song in Latin)
Calliope (=beautiful voice in Greek)
Erato (=Greek muse of love poems and songs)
Calypso
Musetta
Piper (though I don't like this myself)

Euphemia (Effie) = speak well, nice sound
Melba (after the famous singer)
