Just been out with dh discussing name options for baby due next week.

We have settled on a boys name and backup but finding girls much harder - down to three.

They are:

Lara
Anna
Cordelia

Which would you pick? I'm a little worried Cordelia is a mouthful with our surname but dh is quite keen on it.

Any middle name suggestions welcome too!

Love Lara and Anna, not so keen on Cordelia. How about Elizabeth as a middle name?

AhamSaidJackLambe · 14/03/2014 21:27

I like Lara, would you use Georgina as a middle name?

ThursdayLast · 14/03/2014 21:27

I like them all, but Anna is on my list (imaginary Smile) so I'd say it's my fave

Boulders · 14/03/2014 21:29

Lara is very nice. Have a 6 yr old and 3 yr old and don't know any.

BlackberryandNettle · 14/03/2014 21:39

Thanks. We like all 3 so it is tricky. I do really like Elizabeth but my closest friend has wanted for years to use the name so I'm avoiding it. Georgina's nice, will mull it over...

Cordelia individual and pretty :)

Ikeameatballs · 14/03/2014 22:05

I like Cordelia, nn Cordie? But Lara and Anna won't get shortened.

britney92 · 14/03/2014 22:06

Anna

HyvaPaiva · 14/03/2014 22:06

Lara

stingaling · 14/03/2014 22:08

Love Lara.

Migsy1 · 14/03/2014 22:09

Cordelia

Willabywallaby · 14/03/2014 22:10

Like Cordelia best, easy to shorten to Delia if too much of a mouthful. I really like Celia.

Next fave is Anna.

But like them all.

DramaAlpaca · 14/03/2014 22:11

I love them all, so I'm no help but I like your taste in names Smile

If you were to use Elizabeth as a middle name it surely wouldn't upset your friend? It would be different if you used it as a first name.

Viviennemary · 14/03/2014 22:13

I like Cordelia best. Not keen on Lara. Anna is OK.

Nocomet · 14/03/2014 22:13

Lara
Anna is dull
Cordelia is a mouthful. I like Celia too

CountingStars · 14/03/2014 22:15

I'd say Lara.

doireallywant3 · 14/03/2014 22:23

I love Cordelia, was one of our fave names (I would have hoped for Cordy rather than Delia as a shortening), my DH loved king lear. my goddaughter is Lara and I prefer that
Anna is classic lovely and classy, but dull, sorry. FYI I called mine Sophia (greek for wisdom), fifi for short (after my fave childhood doll).

mummeeee · 14/03/2014 22:31

I like all, but particularly Anna. Our dd is Anna & I am very happy we chose it.

Can I please ask what your boy's name is? Our dc3 is due in 2 weeks and we're not completely decided on a boy's name. Since you are considering Anna & we have an Anna I think we might also like your boys name choice.

RiverTam · 14/03/2014 22:34

Anna
Cordelia (though hate Cordy, what's the matter with just Cordelia? MN never seems to be able to cope with long names, don't understand it)

don't really like Lara.

Auntimatter · 14/03/2014 22:35

Surely she has to be Anne Cordelia?

Auntimatter · 14/03/2014 22:35

And I agree with RiverTam - shortenings are horrible.

GimmeDaBoobehz · 14/03/2014 23:01

Anna or Cordelia.

BlackeyedSusan · 14/03/2014 23:07

using elizabeth as a middle name will not upset your friend. anyway I bet your friend is not going to be around for the next 80 years or so that your daughter will have the name.

GlaikitFizzog · 14/03/2014 23:08

Lara cordelia! And get a cat to call anna?!

BrunoBrookesDinedAlone · 14/03/2014 23:10

Anna.

Cordelia should be good but somehow isn't! Looks prettier than it actually sounds and she will end up as Cord/Cordy (hmm) or Delia (Smith, also 'ailed' backwards).

Lara just isn't in the same class as Anna, so no. Anna is classic.
