Given the Scandinavian background, which does give the names some context:
Gustav, as it can be shortened to Gus
Casper's OK. Ish.

Don't like either of the other two at all, sorry!

Rumplestiltskinismyname · 07/03/2014 13:50

Only like Casper. If your interested in Scandinavian sounding names, how about Lars. I think it's lovely!

DitsyDonkey · 07/03/2014 13:53

Caspar....spelled this way!
Axel

Rooners · 07/03/2014 13:54

Gustav is a brilliant name. Not Gus though. No!

Casper is OooK but I don't like the others. Sorry Blush

German/Russian heritage here.

MarianneBrandon · 07/03/2014 15:37

Casper
Axel

Elmer
Gustav

singersgirl · 07/03/2014 16:05

Casper and Gustav work best in the UK, though I see you've got Scandinavian heritage.

Elmer is the elephant for me and Axel - well, I know it's spelt differently, and is a long-established name, but it's part of a wheel, so it seems to me rather like calling your child Hinge or Piston.

RiverTam · 07/03/2014 16:15

hang on, people - I think most of us with young DC in the last 10 years can name one extremely famous Axel in this country - Axel Scheffler anyone? Co-creator of The Gruffalo? No?

Nataleejah · 07/03/2014 18:23

I like only Gustav and Casper

YouAreTalkingRubbish · 07/03/2014 18:26

Casper,
Casper,
Casper,

and, umm, Casper Grin

(Axel is ok I suppose Confused )

Artandco · 07/03/2014 18:35

What about Caspian?

Yama · 07/03/2014 18:37

I like Axel. Cool name.

Haahoooo · 07/03/2014 20:23

Thanks all. Lots of food for thought (although not much time left for thinking)...

Gustav
Axel
Like these two.

For me Casper is a friendly ghost and Elmer is a patchwork elephant, sorry.

SirChenjin · 07/03/2014 20:34

None of them.

BabyMummy29 · 07/03/2014 20:34

All terrible - sorry

Onesleeptillwembley · 07/03/2014 20:35

Oh dear. All dreadful.

MerryWinterfel · 07/03/2014 20:48

Caspar
Axel
Gus
.
.
.
not Elmer.

Also like Max and Gregor, if you are wanting to swap Elmer out

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 07/03/2014 21:10

Axel is really nice!
Elmer is an elephant.
Caspar is ok.
Gustav is not to my taste.

Otis?

SimplySara · 07/03/2014 21:20

Don't mind he naysayers OP. There are some people on here who really only like boring names, they also tend to be the most vocal making sure everyone stays within the top 100, not straying to far from the pack.

I like
Gustav (especially with the nn Gus)
Axel
Casper
Elmer

winterhat · 07/03/2014 21:50

My order of preference is the same as you put in your OP

Casper
Elmer
Gustav
Axel

Glasshammer · 08/03/2014 19:03

Casper is top

Glasshammer · 08/03/2014 19:04

Thor

sandberry · 08/03/2014 20:01

Axel/Gustav- both great names.
Casper-love it but getting popular

Elmer-it's a glue.

lljkk · 08/03/2014 20:12

Casper & Axel are okay, none of them are my cup of tea. Elmer is the only one that makes me shudder.

A lot of male Dutch names do sound quite weird to English speakers. Like the nonsense words in my year 1 child's phonics tests.

AmysTiara · 08/03/2014 21:07

Axel isn't a name I'd pick but I quite like it, it sounds pretty cool Grin
