We have decided our baby will be called this if its a boy but can't decide how to spell it. Any thoughts?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

If that's your chosen name you should spell it Jackson. Please don't hamper a child with a name with a quirky spelling. Having to spell out your name and correct people for your whole life becomes very wearing.

AuntieBrenda · 27/02/2014 08:38

Ck. Jackson is a lovely name - the x version detracts from it IMO.

CouthyMow · 27/02/2014 08:47

Jackson for sure. My Second cousin is called Jackson, it's a lovely name. I wouldn't use Jaxon though, as I would fear that the 'creative' spelling would hamper him in later life, and give people the wrong impression!

Theonlyoneiknow · 27/02/2014 08:51

I really like Jackson, it is DS middle name after my grannys maiden name.

Not spelt Jaxon though

MaryWestmacott · 27/02/2014 08:52

Go for Jackson - I have the less popular spelling of a name (although still not a 'quirky' spelling, just the other spelling is more common in this country) - I have spent a significant amount of my life on the phone to call centres getting it corrected, explaining to people that I didn't get that e-mail, and generally trying not to get annoyed when people spell it wrong. It causes hassle, don't do it!

(Plus Jaxon makes me think of an X factor contestant who's had to spell their name a strange way for the show so they can get into Equity).

AnnieLobeseder · 27/02/2014 08:56

Not Jaxon, please. It's not a real name and it would be cruel to impose that kind of "quirkiness" on a child for his entire life.

CalmTheFarm · 27/02/2014 09:14

Please go for Jackson and this is coming from someone's who's cousin's baby is named Jaxon. I immediatly thought that it would be spelt Jackson and put that spelling down on the congratulations card.

Driveway · 27/02/2014 10:09

Another vote for Jackson.

ShatnersBassoon · 27/02/2014 10:14

Jackson. Jaxon doesn't look nice, it makes me think of banjaxed.

UriGeller · 27/02/2014 10:14

Jackson is very cool.

Jaxon is very 'try-hard' and a bit tragic.

You and he will end up saying "Thats JaxonwithanX"

squoosh · 27/02/2014 10:58

I am checking my crystal ball and said crystal ball tells me that no one will say they prefer Jaxon.

squoosh · 27/02/2014 10:59

Because Jaxon looks really silly.

moobaloo · 27/02/2014 11:00

Jackson. Jaxon looks a bit like Jason but spelt wrong?

Jackson is a nice name Smile

whatsagoodusername · 27/02/2014 11:01

Jackson.

ElBombero · 27/02/2014 11:02

Jackson, I've spelt my DD name unconventionally (through ignorance to the true spelling) and it honestly drives me potty, I have to spell it to everyone, Confused then feel abit silly as people probably think I was trying to be "different" Hmm

chattychattyboomba · 27/02/2014 11:02

Another vote for Jackson. I personally think trying to be original with spelling is just trying a bit too hard.

Stockhausen · 27/02/2014 11:04

Posters have been kind so far....

Please don't saddle your child with Jaxon

Stockhausen · 27/02/2014 11:05

It's not even try hard... it's just chavvy!

DurhamDurham · 27/02/2014 11:05

Another vote for Jackson. Imagine your child having to spell out their name for the rest of their life, it would be very tiresome.

Onesleeptillwembley · 27/02/2014 11:10

It's awful but if you really have to saddle the poor child, don't use the 'x'. It manages the difficult job of marking a dreadful name even worse.

eurochick · 27/02/2014 11:12

Jackson.

Jaxon is awful.

Snowflakepie · 27/02/2014 11:18

Jackson, please please please.
Jaxon is plain awful.

I know a little Jax. Everyone hears Jack. The mum is forever saying Jax-with-an-x. Then wonders why people give her a Shock face.

Pooka · 27/02/2014 11:19

Oh no, not jaxon!

Jackson. Definitely.

Oldandcobwebby · 27/02/2014 11:25

Jaxon screams "my parents couldn't spell!".

ToffeeJungle · 27/02/2014 11:45

Love Jackson.

Hate Jaxon.
