Due in the next few days and been struggling with a name, narrowed it down to Kelly, Jenny, Daniella and Stacey although thought about Candy at one point also.

However top of my list was the name February or Feb for short!!! Everyone hates it, so I dropped it early on, but recently as time draws near it has come back to play. yet I do not want to give my child a name everyone hates.

Anyone like it or is it really bad?

February? As a child's name?! Absolutely awful. What on earth would possess you to even think of such a name? Also Candy? Barely acceptable even if you lived in the southern states of America and we're obscenely wealthy.

Think February is ambitious but thats what you love then do it! NOT CANDY hun.... hehe

February though? If I was told I had to name my child after a month February wouldn't be top of the list.

Also Candy is terrible, there'd be lots of boring 'sweet as' and 'candy crush' jokes.

I like Jenny and Daniella best. Not February, it is just not an attractive word let alone name. You could use Candice with candy for nn.

Nope. January Jones just about gets away with it, and you're left wondering how she managed it, rather than admiring the beauty of the name. I suppose the porn-star alliteration helps.

Jenny and Danni are both nice enough. Jenny is a bit 70s but was quite popular in the late Victorian period as well.

February is just awful and it will be even worse if she is born in the month February. Candy is just as bad, even if you lived in the USA

Kelly, Jenny and Stacey sound very 70s/80s, and tbh I think they should stay their but I love Daniella.

There is an early 1960s children's novel by John Verney called 'February's Road' - companion to 'Friday's Tunnel' (1959). It features a large, eccentric family with the surname Callendar. February (a girl, and a really great character) is the heroine of both books, Friday is her brother. I enjoyed it as a child (though 'Friday's Tunnel' was much, much better), but I expect it will seem very middle-class, cosy and dated now. Have not read either book for decades.

I like it. There are far worse names talked about on here IMHO. Jenny is great too, well Jennifer with the nn Jenny. As someone said we use April, May, June and i know an Autumn and a Summer so why not February.

What about April, May or June instead? Or January?

February is my favourite month but no to it being a name. I know a Candy. She's in her 30's. I don't really like it though. Stacey is not great either IMO. I quite like Daniella.

How rude to ask if the op is stuck in the 80's. At least her child will be different to the hordes of charlottes, Matthews, maisies and daisies. I like kelly best of your list op.

I quite like it. Feb is cute, and I like an unusual name.
I went to school with a Candice who was called Candy, and I remember thinking it sounded impossibly glam.

So many people can't even pronounce it properly and say Febbery or Feb-you-ary, but that would be the least of your daughter's problems.

It's your choice and you should choose what you like and sod what people say. They WILL get used to it.
