Too samey?

DD is Arabella. Problem is that I seem to be drawn to very similar sounding names so I'm just wondering if it would it be crazy to consider calling DD2 something like Mariella or Raphaella? Are they just too samey and matchy?

Very 'Ella' Grin

DawnOfTheDee · 14/02/2014 09:01

Nice names but yes, far too 'matchy' imho.

makingdoo · 14/02/2014 09:01

I think Arabella is a lovely name. I'm not that keen on your other two options and I do think they are too samey tbh

Can you imagine calling both of them in the park?

Oubliette0292 · 14/02/2014 09:16

I think they are too samey. How about Marianne rather than Mariella?

Buzimomma · 14/02/2014 11:33

Well that seems a no so far then!? Bah! I do like Marianne but not as much as Mariella (I know a few Marianne's my own age which puts me off).

Marielle?

AGoodPirate · 14/02/2014 12:35

Too samey. Definitely. Sorry!

Bowlersarm · 14/02/2014 12:40

Another one saying too similar.

I love Arabella, but you can't have another 'Ella' ending.

Emelia?

TravellingToad · 14/02/2014 12:43

Isobel?
Marielle
Laurel / laurelle

BrunoBrookesDinedAlone · 14/02/2014 13:09

No way, far too samey.

Melissa?

DawnOfTheDee · 14/02/2014 15:05

Marissa

MadIsTheNewNormal · 14/02/2014 15:07

Yes. All lovely names, but far too samey. Especially as any of their future friends and partners might NN them Ella. You'll end up with two Ellas.

ShadowFall · 14/02/2014 15:09

Too samey.

MadIsTheNewNormal · 14/02/2014 15:11

Arabella and...

Marianne or Marianna

Ramona or Paloma.

Melissande, Miranda or Matllda.

Cordelia or Cecelia.

Rosamund or Rosaria.

Serena or Stefania.

bionic77 · 14/02/2014 15:17

How about Aurelia?

CormoranStrike · 14/02/2014 15:23

Sophia goes nicely, imho.

CormoranStrike · 14/02/2014 15:23

Or Imogen.

NightCircus · 14/02/2014 16:33

Arianna
Sienna
Christabel

winterhat · 14/02/2014 18:45

It would be too samey to have two "Ella" names IMHO.

Arabella and...

Harriet
Beatrice
Coralie
Zara
Cassia
Susannah
Melissa
Sophia
Octavia
Olivia
Rowena
Violet
Vanessa
Georgia
Josephine
Louisa
Victoria

Buzimomma · 14/02/2014 20:25

Hi all, thanks for your responses. A unanimous NO so far then! I guess that means I have to reconsider.....!? Loads of good ideas though, thank you! Of the suggestions so far, I really like Melissa, Marissa, Sophia, Aurelia, Marianna, Octavia and Louisa (I realise that I must have a thing for names ending it "a"!) Also quite like Beatrice, Susannah and Christabel. I suppose I have to accept that I really must try and move away from the "Ella" infatuation! Grin

Arabella and Constance

feelinlucky · 14/02/2014 20:30

I love Paloma. :)

Buzimomma · 15/02/2014 13:07

Paloma is way too similar to "Papilloma" for me, sorry! Smile

I don't have an issue with names being too "samey" as they will live so much of their lives separately and will have independent identities. Even if they shared the same friends there are often groups of friends where a couple share a name or their names sound similar.

As alternatives though, how about Marcia or Meredith?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/02/2014 14:33

Far, far too samey.
