DipDabDabDip · 09/02/2014 20:12

I'm feeding one to sleep right now. I love it! obviously

HighVoltage · 09/02/2014 20:15

It's a lovely name. None at my DS's nursery, one at his friend's.

DipDabDabDip · 09/02/2014 20:17

Oh and in 10 months I've only met one other at a baby music group and she was 3.

AlmondFrangipani · 09/02/2014 20:19

I had my DS 6 months ago and I know 2 Phoebe's born the same time. So to me it's increasing in popularity but still a lush name!

winterhat · 09/02/2014 21:10

Lovely name.

DramaAlpaca · 09/02/2014 21:11

Love it.

Wishfulmakeupping · 09/02/2014 21:18

Just reminds me of 'Friends' I'm not keen personally. Hebe's got a similar sound but looks much prettier and is more unusual

bouquetofpencils · 09/02/2014 21:24

Gorgeous name. Know only one aged 5.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 09/02/2014 21:25

. I am one! Smile

LifeOfPee · 09/02/2014 21:33

Love love love it. Was on my list (if DS had been a DD!)

It doesn't matter how popular it is. She will be your Phoebe, the one and only. Names become popular because they're nice.

Dovahkiin · 09/02/2014 21:34

I've got one :) 15 months on, I'm so glad we chose the name as it suits her perfectly - bright, happy ( increasingly foot stampy...) Most people mention that they've only known one other Phoebe, of various ages. I say go for - obviously.

MarthasHarbour · 09/02/2014 21:39

I love it - it's cute, (but is also a name that can 'grow up' IYSWIM)

Despite the popularity of Friends in the 90's/00's i dont know any DC's with that name.

Go for it Smile

Jellypudmum · 09/02/2014 21:41

My dd is called Phoebe. Only one in her school (she's 7). Not met another one IRL. Like the name meaning as well.
Shop assistant this week commented what a lovely name it was when she overheard me speaking to dd.
never crosses mine or anyone else's mind about the Friends connection.

CaipirinhasAllRound · 09/02/2014 21:56

Thanks everyone, am thinking this could be the one. We have 9 ish weeks to go and don't know if we're having a boy or a girl
What 3 syllable middle name would you put with it (short surname)?

OP posts:
freckledleopard · 09/02/2014 22:08

DD (almost 13) is the only Phoebe in her year. Be warned, though, it is almost invariably spelled incorrectly by EVERYONE! We've had Pheobe, Feebie, Pheeby and even Furby!

BlueStarsAtNight · 09/02/2014 22:09

Ooh I really like Phoebe and don't know any others.

How about:

Phoebe Jessica
Phoebe Harriet
Phoebe Violet
Phoebe Isobel
Phoebe Abigail
Phoebe Annabel

I think it suits a 3-syllable name with the stress on the first syllable :)

MooncupGoddess · 09/02/2014 22:12

'What 3 syllable middle name would you put with it (short surname)?'

Hmm... I'd go for something quite solid and traditional. Katherine, Madeline, Isabel, Harriet, Maria, Naomi, Miranda, Margaret?

Queenmarigold · 09/02/2014 22:14

Will struggle to spell it!

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 09/02/2014 22:17

I know one Phoebe who'll be three in a couple of months. Nice name; it's got more popular over recent years but not rocketed up the charts out of nowhere as some names have, and looks to have plateaued so I don't think you'll be falling over small Phoebes.

Personally I'd look for a family middle name to put with it, but maybe

Phoebe Rosalind
Phoebe Josephine
Phoebe Madeleine
Phoebe Juliet

justhayley · 09/02/2014 23:27

If my bump is pink I think she'll be phoebe. Only met one at DS swimming she's about 2 1/2 I think.my friend just used it as a middle name for her little one.

I agree 3/4 syllables work best. I think names with an a sound at the end work well.
I like
Phoebe Isabella
" Amelia
" Olivia
" Sienna
Also love Pheobe Autumn rose but DP would never go for that.

Only1scoop · 09/02/2014 23:28

2 at nursery
Beautiful name

Innogen · 09/02/2014 23:30

My sister is an 18 year old Phoebe. I think it is gorgeous, though our mother would be gutted about the popularity if she were naming her now.

shalo2 · 09/02/2014 23:34

My new daughter is called Phoebe! I love it and everyone comments on what a lovely name it is!

Pregnantberry · 09/02/2014 23:38

Love it! Our friend's DD is a 6yo Phoebe who is quiet but feisty.

We would have seriously considered it if we hadn't known one well already.

BrianTheMole · 09/02/2014 23:42

Its a good name. I know one. She's an adorable, confident and funny little girl.
