Names starting with the same letter

Hi just wondering I already have a son with R initial and hubby has R initial I have T initial and my daughter 2nd child has l initial the name I have chosen for our son due in a few weeks also starts with an R would you do it?

Think Ricky,Ronnie & Riley ( not actual names) when said seperately or in family age order it's fine just when all male names said together as above

My DH, FIL and MIL all have the same first initial so if a letter arrived with just initial and surname they just had to guess who it was for. He hated it as a teenager. My 2 DB also have the same first initial and they also fight over post.

We have given our children different initials for the same reason.

You have to be careful with using the same initial for your dcs otherwise this could happen

I have a ten year old and an 8 year old with the same initials.

Hasn't caused any issues apart from me getting in a tongue twist sometimes when I'm mentioning their names!

At 20 and 18 it will cause a problem when they have to guess who the letter is for.

I do think it is a bit weird for all the males in your family to have the same initial, though.

Who send post using just a first initial on a regular basis?! All they need to do is put their full names on forms....

there will be 9 years between my boys so not sure if post will be a problem and their middle initials will be different its difficult to know what to do as the only name i really like does start with R. thanks for your opinions though

My dd is M... and if wr had another girl, we like Matilda, and wondered if it would be daft to use two Ms.

The more I say the names together the more twee it soubds.

My DH's family all do this (call their DC names beginning with the same letter). So for example his cousin's children are Christopher, Christina and Chantelle.

I find it a bit weird tbh.

I am going to do it. Only name we like for our ds has the same initial as dd. Some people might raise eyebrows but I'm pretty convinced it is not a big deal. Just choose the name you love!

Most of my post comes with one initial- despite having full names on forms- it would be very irritating to have a parent who thinks it doesn't matter.

both mine have the same start initial. Me and dh also have the same start initial as each other (different from the kids though). My 2 older brothers and I had the same start initial too.

I think it is hideous. There is a lack of individuality for the children.

I used to know sisters called Julianna and Julietta. They both hated it.

It is OK for the parents to say that it doesn't matter- it doesn't affect them.

well it never bothered me that 3 of us had the same initials in my family (me and 2 brothers) and it hasnt occurred to my children to find it an issue either.

Lack of individuality? Seriously?

My two DCs have the same first initial. It was not intentional, we just liked the names. I cannot see how this could affect them in negative way or bother them.

DH, DD and I have All the same initials. DH and I is obviously a coincidence, but we had completely free rein with DD's name and we gave her the same set of initials
DS is different!

It has never been a problem.

My brother and I also have the same initials (using my maiden name).

DSIS and me do, I think we might have opened each other's bank statements once, but generally it's a total non issue

We did this for DD1 and 2, just loved the names, I do get in a tongue twist more often as a result though. I was gutted that we couldn't decide on a further alliterative name for DD3!

I've done it, but by accident. It has bothered me at times but overall it hasn't been a problem-- they are still young though! Never thought about post, they do have different middle initials so thinking about it so far letters come to either Firstname Surname or AB / AC Surname.

I do think similar first initials from a pair of names like Charlotte and Catherine is different from Julianna and Julietta though. I wouldn't do rhymey or overly matchy names. I did once know twins named G(ina) and G(enna) who had the same middle name (popular Italian/Spanish form of Jesus's mother), which might be taking it a bit far!
