Simple question - which do you prefer and why?!

India is beautiful, Anya I think I would expect someone in their 40's. Both names are fine so choose the one you love Smile

LittleYellowDuck · 21/01/2014 07:41

Both lovely names but I prefer India , seems more modern

aGirlDownUnder1 · 21/01/2014 08:35

I love both names, but I prefer Anya

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 21/01/2014 09:12

I love Anya.

VashtaNerada · 21/01/2014 09:13

I prefer Anya, bit more unusual than India, and India only really works if you have a strong attachment to the place.

BillyBanter · 21/01/2014 09:14

Anya

hawkmcqueen · 21/01/2014 09:22

I agree with vashta and think you need some ties with the country to use the name but I know many would not agree. So I would pick Anya.

BartBaby · 21/01/2014 09:23

I really like them both. Sorry not much help!

justhayley · 21/01/2014 09:24

Both beautiful. I know 2 almost 2 years olds one India one Anya. The Anya is really fair haired and bright blue eyed, the India olive skinned & big brown eyes. They both REALLY suit their names. I can't imagine a blond India at all. Maybe wait till your little Dolly arrives and see what suits her best.
Both lovely names though.

newyearhere · 21/01/2014 10:25

Anya is much nicer. India is 80s "look how well-travelled I am".

Gileswithachainsaw · 21/01/2014 10:27

I like both. Would go for Anya.

Also love indigo

newyearhere · 21/01/2014 10:28

Or how about Indira?

IWearAFezNow · 21/01/2014 10:28

Anya - but I'm biased, DD2 is Anya and I love it.

BobaFetaCheese · 21/01/2014 10:28

Anya. Love Anya!
Really dislike India (the name, not the country).

FuckingWankwings · 21/01/2014 10:31

I love both. That's not helpful, is it? Grin

GwendolineMaryLacey · 21/01/2014 10:34

Anya is beautiful. I really detest India as a name.

NotQuitePerfect · 21/01/2014 10:34

I agree with justhayley

Except ..... somebody on here had the user name 'Anyaknowit' which always used to make me smile Smile

DramaAlpaca · 21/01/2014 10:38

Anya.

India is a bit try hard and I think Katie Hopkins has one Like newyearhere says it's a "look how well travelled I am/or my parents were" sort of a name.

Saminthemiddle · 21/01/2014 10:42

India, definitely.

grizzabellia · 21/01/2014 15:02

Anya is lovely.

I find India quite bizarre as a name, particularly if the child has no connections there. It is such a vast place with both positive (beauty, spirituality, hippydom) and negative (horrendous poverty, slums) it seems a very odd name to bestow on a child.

I like Indira as was suggested though am personally not a fan of using names if there is not a cultural connection.

NowPlayingZone · 21/01/2014 15:05

Anya is divine

Leeds2 · 21/01/2014 15:13

I love them both! Like the poster above, I would wait and see which name she looks like. Both the India and Anya I know are dark haired and skin though, not blonde!

maillotjaune · 21/01/2014 18:15

Anya is a lovely name - I have a very boring but similar name and used to wish I'd been called Anya.

India is OK but I don't think of it as a modern name, rather a recently dated name rather than a classic iyswim.

KLou1105 · 21/01/2014 18:35

Anya :-)

Algorithm · 21/01/2014 19:57

Anya definitely - I am not a big fan of palce names.
