Do you think they'll go super traditional or modern like her bro's kids (savannah and Isla iirc?)

Matilda.

MaeWestfield · 17/01/2014 23:26

Yes i reclon theyve been asked not to use elizabeth. They couldnt be adked not to use anne or anna or margaret or maggie or greta though? I think there is a marguerite in the family. Princess margarets son called his daughter marguerite not margaret i think

ChalkHillBlue · 18/01/2014 07:48

It will be Helena.

ruby1234 · 18/01/2014 10:50

Daily Mirror today suggests Poppy.
Apparently Zara told her mate who told the paper.

LottieJenkins · 18/01/2014 12:12

Nice trustworthy friend she has there............ Hmm

PestoStormissimos · 18/01/2014 12:14

I reckon something like Iris or Elspeth.

Feisty names Grin

TidyDancer · 18/01/2014 12:15

I think Charlotte or Alexandra if we're going down the traditional route.

Poppy is nice, wonder if that's true though.

MarchelineWhatNot · 18/01/2014 12:16

I think they will choose something modern and imaginative, like Zara's parents chose for her. I am really looking forward to hearing what it is.

And SuzanneUK... shame on you for your nasty attitude towards the new parents. Both Zara and her husband both have jobs and are not parasites.

pygmy · 18/01/2014 12:32

I think something like Luna or Willow.

diddl · 18/01/2014 13:23

Slightly OT-but I read somewhere that Edward & Sophie wereN#t allowed to call their son Theodore.

So how did Anne get away with Zara?

MaeWestfield · 18/01/2014 19:18

I think because Anne turned down titles for her children she could do what she liked.

sophie and Edward's children are a lady and an Earl / duke (??) I think.

When do you think they'll announce it?

I'd be disappointed with Poppy, bit dull IMO.

Isn't Eugenie an old aristocratic name?

florascotia · 18/01/2014 20:32

Eugenie has royal connections. Princess Victoria Eugenie was the daughter of Princess Beatrice who was the daughter of Queen Victoria.
She was brought up in Queen Victoria's household, and had a pretty eventful life:

YoMamma · 18/01/2014 20:58

Anne's children weren't entitled to titles because they are the children of a daughter of the monarch and their father had no titles to pass on. See here. Edward's children are styled as the children of a duke rather than a prince. I think that was his choice. Not sure why I know these pointless facts....

Practicalpam · 18/01/2014 21:18

I hope she keeps with the Z and goes for Zilla/Zillah.

UKAS · 18/01/2014 21:25

I always thought Anne chose not to have titles for her DC. The Queen can bestow them as she sees fit, can't she? So it didn't matter that they didn't inherit one from their father.

This whole thing makes me feel very old. On Guide camp one year our patrol names were all "Royals". We chose Zara who was a new baby at the time....I was very interested in the new baby and am sure I remember thinking Princess Anne was selfish silly not to let her daughter be a princess (or whatever she would have been)

MyNameIsKenAdams · 18/01/2014 21:26

I dont think Poppy is dull at all. Beautiful flower too.

Jbck · 18/01/2014 21:35

Ooh I like Daisy, never thought of the Margaret shortening.

BumpNGrind · 19/01/2014 00:44

I remember reading that Prince Charles suggested the name Zara because it means 'bright as the dawn' and due to the timing of her birth, he thought that it would suit her. I think she has a lovely name and it'll be interesting to see if her daughter will have a name in the same thread.

My guess is that it's going to be an accessible posh name, something like Charlotte or Libby. Nothing too out of the ordinary.

Bet she's gutted that Pippa is on the scene - Phillipa means 'lover of horses'

greeneyes1978 · 19/01/2014 01:29

Alexandra I reckon.

Solo · 19/01/2014 01:59

Hannah.
