Ramsey is a village in England, near Peterborough.

Ramsay is Scottish surname.

People can spell their children's names any way they like, of course ...

Finlay is a fabulous name, although I may be rather biased on it Smile

I've never heard of Khylan and can't say I'm particularly keen, however, there's a lot of name snobbery on MN and I would name your child something YOU love, sod the opinions of others. Whatever you choose, there will wats be people who dislike it.

tracypenisbeaker · 17/01/2014 12:56

I really dislike both, but Finley is the lesser of two evils for me. Khylan is just naff.

newyearhere · 17/01/2014 12:59

Khylan.

I really dislike Finlay.

TheNumberfaker · 17/01/2014 13:00

Neither

Theonlyoneiknow · 17/01/2014 13:27

boysiesback has made a very valid point. Choose the name YOU love. Name snobbery is rife on here

tracypenisbeaker · 17/01/2014 14:04

Theonlyoneiknow unfortunately, name snobbery is rife in real life too and rightly or wrongly, your name does influence peoples opinion of you (before getting to know the real you, of course.) It is up to the OP whether this bothers her or not.

tracypenisbeaker · 17/01/2014 14:11

Its funny, if the choices on the thread were something like 'Harry or Thomas' then i dont think anyone would mention the fact that other people are snobby and will judge because they are horrible people, but if you think Jaden/ Kyden or whatever will be picked on, doesnt that mean that you actually think the names are, erm, (for want of a better word) common?

MadIsTheNewNormal · 17/01/2014 14:18

Agree that all names are made up, but some are so 'of the moment' that they will never stand the test of time, and will always conjure up images of a certain kind of person from a certain era and a certain background.

Khylan definitely falls into that category. It's a Jason/Dean/Wayne of the future. If you are ok with that then choose it.

AgaPanthers · 17/01/2014 14:21

I too thought Chinese broccoli.

Nice stir-fried with garlic.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 17/01/2014 14:25

Finlay/ley is nice. I like Finn and Flynn. Khylan is too awful, sorry.

newyearhere · 17/01/2014 14:39

Finley/ley/bar have suddenly become popular.

AgaPanthers · 17/01/2014 14:44

They make me think of horse meat lasagne.

grizzabellia · 17/01/2014 15:00

Finlay

Khylan sounds made up. Surely Finlay is a perfectly acceptable spelling? - not sure why people seem to think Finley is more correct?
