Finley is dull. I like Khylan.

littleredsquirrel · 16/01/2014 23:00

Should point out that khylan will be pronounced in the same way as kai Lan which:

  1. Is a girl's name (and this is very well know amongst pre schoolers who watch the very popular programme "Ni Hao Kai Lan")
  2. Is the chinese version of Karen
  3. also means chinese broccoli (kale).

All in all not the best name for a little boy.

Finlay is far better

Only1scoop · 16/01/2014 23:03

It's Finlay isn't it? don't like the other name, Finlay is ok though.

NinjaPenguin · 16/01/2014 23:42

I love Finley, as I love the nickname Finn, but Finley sounds handsome and strong iyswim, as a name. Khylan has a ring to it though, but overall, definitely Finley. What about Flynn, Kaiden?

redrubyindigo · 16/01/2014 23:55

Finlay not Finley

Khylan sounds like a cleaning product.

'Khylan, it will clean whiter than white and even removes mildew and limescale!'

I would buy it!

sleepingbeautiful · 17/01/2014 01:39

Finley for sure.
Don't like Khylan, looks kind of messy.
If you like K names what about Kian, Kit, Kane, Kirk or Kieran?

ToysRLuv · 17/01/2014 01:59

FinlAy is great.

Khylan - awful.

jaggythistle · 17/01/2014 02:05

Finlay.

Khylan does sound made up.

Finley (only ever seen it spelt Finlay)
Khylan looks like a made up name, sorry.

FYI Finley is actually the more popular spelling.

MadIsTheNewNormal · 17/01/2014 05:41

Finley. Khylan is beyond awful and sounds completely made up.

MadIsTheNewNormal · 17/01/2014 05:42

and yes, it should really be Finlay not Finley.

MadIsTheNewNormal · 17/01/2014 05:43

Finley may be the more common spelling but isn't the right one!

EirikurNoromaour · 17/01/2014 05:45

What is khylan? I've never heard of it. Is it a foreign name?
Finlay is spelt with an A not an E. It's a very nice name.

lljkk · 17/01/2014 05:50

All names are completely made up (sigh).
How to say Khylan? I prefer trouble free spelling-to say names, which is neither, as thread shows. Jayden would be pretty straight-forward in comparison. Or Kyle.

FanjolinaJolie · 17/01/2014 05:51

Finlay

Flynn is a lovely suggestion.

pygmy · 17/01/2014 08:22

Finlay is the correct spelling as it's the spelling that's been used for hundreds of years. Finlay is anglicised from Fionnlagh.
It's a Scottish name; the Finley spelling is unheard of up there, which says it all really.

I like Finlay. Khylan sounds made up-Sorry! Plus I think it will date.
Not Finley.

NinjaPenguin · 17/01/2014 12:38

I know a Scottish Finley. His siblings have very traditional anglicised names Confused
