Daisy? Getting desperate now- 5 days old

Hi baby girl 5 days old now and still nameless! My top choices of Violet or Beatrice have been vetoed by DH. We have been talking about Lara for a long time but I can't commit to it although its lovely. DH suddenly come up with Daisy- which I'm surprised about but I do like it. It goes well with surname but is a bit cutesy and popular maybe? Mind you I don't think that's a big problem and don't think it will stop her becoming a high court judge. Sisters are Emilia and Zoe. Lara or Daisy? Help!

I absolutely love Daisy. However, it doesn't seem to be a huge hit on mumsnet!

cupcake78 · 15/10/2013 08:24

Nice!

PestoSpookissimos · 15/10/2013 08:24

I prefer

Clover Smile

CreatureRetorts · 15/10/2013 08:26

It is a bit cutesy but does it suit her?
Any other flower names? Rose, Lily, Violet?
Or nature names - Wren, Olive?

Emilia and Zoe sound like quite "strong" names unlike Daisy. Lara goes better than Daisy.

SadFace502 · 15/10/2013 08:29

I prefer Lara... Lots of Daisy's around, I know 4 of them!! Lyra was on our list along with Elsa and Esme... We went for Beatrice (Bea) xxx

Madamecastafiore · 15/10/2013 08:29

I love Daisy but 8yr old DS asked me if we having a cow when I suggested it.

What about Alice?

YummyMummybee · 15/10/2013 08:31

Adore Daisy, its our name too for this DD, its so pretty!

Patilla · 15/10/2013 08:31

Lydia?
Layla/Laila?

curlew · 15/10/2013 08:36

What about Margaret? Traditionally Daisy is a shortening- and there are loads of other lovely ones too.

Merrylegs · 15/10/2013 08:39

I have a Daisy who wants to be Prime Minister. I reckon she will be as well. I am obviously going to say it's a fab name. I think it sounds strong and feisty and is a proper old fashioned name. Although will probs be expensive - every time you see a dress with a Daisy on or a daisy cushion, or daisy jewellery or a daisy birthday card etc you will have to buy it for her. It's like a compulsion.

Hawkmoth · 15/10/2013 08:41

Lovely name :)

elcranko · 15/10/2013 08:48

They're both lovely! I prefer Daisy but think that Lara flows slightly better with your other DD's names.

Why not give yourself a couple more days, spend a day at a time calling her each name. You may decide that one suits her more than the other.

pygmy · 15/10/2013 08:52

I love Lara. Daisy is ok, just not to my taste.

Littlecherublegs · 15/10/2013 08:53

Both lovely names though Daisy is a bit cutesy and Lara does go better with your other DC names.

LondonNightmareInGhostlyBoots · 15/10/2013 09:01

Lara is more of a grown ups name, Daisy won't still well as an adult name imo.

Artesia · 15/10/2013 09:31

Suspect daisy seems to suit now because it is a cute name and she is a gorgeous, cute baby, but think Lara is a nicer name in the long term, and works better with your other names.

Babycino81 · 15/10/2013 09:35

I have a one week old called Daisy! Be prepared for adults/arseholes to tell you it's a cows name, it's not an adult name etc. if you can put up with that and still like the name them call her Daisy, if not possibly Lara? (Which is lovely too)

PestoSpookissimos · 15/10/2013 09:35

Margarita is another pretty name and it means Daisy I think!

Coupon · 15/10/2013 11:03

Daisy is a lovely name and goes well with the other two Smile There are plenty of adults called Daisy who seem to carry it off well, such as Daisy Waugh, Daisy Lowe and Daisy Donovan.

Lara is nice as nickname for Larissa but I prefer Daisy.

of those two, I perfer Daisy - Lara is very harsh sounding.I know lots of very capable and eloquent Daisys.

how about:-

Laura
Cara
Mara
Tara

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/10/2013 20:44

I really like Daisy - am biased though.

moustachio · 15/10/2013 20:49

I prefer Lara. Your other girls names aren't cutesy, they are strong and beautiful. I think having a really cutesy name for the youngest may pigeon hole her as the youngest babyish one, as opposed to a sister they can be friends with iyswim.

NoComet · 15/10/2013 20:56

Daisy is pretty, but you can't do anything with it. If your not cute or there are three Daisys in the class your stuck.

However, DD tells me I'm being daft and that Daisy suits the strong sporty not cute Daisy we know perfectly well.

It's what you're used to I suppose. If you know a Dr. Polly and a HT called Molly-May, the names won't seem cute at all.

FriedSprout · 15/10/2013 20:58

Don't like Lara, just think big boobs Grin

How about Poppy?

Love Daisy too
