And do you regret it? I feel totally befuddled about names having sought opinions in here and hearing people's opinions.

Wish I'd used my own instincts now and had the courage of my convictions.

No, because when I've given opinions on names I've done so because people have asked for them. I love the name Claudia but not the meaning and would say so if someone asked. If you think MN will genuinely put you off a name you love, you shouldn't ask. I asked about a few names when I was expecting but it was just out of interest to see how people responded, rather that than be surprised after baby arrived I felt.

Example - friend of mine recently gave birth to a dd and named her a name that in our part of the world is (I would say) a girls name. Not so everywhere else and she had no idea, was really upset. It wouldn't have bothered me either way but had she posted hee people she would have found this out and been able to make that part of her choice if she wished.
