Prepared for a flaming. Grin

We're thinking of this as a middle name and both have heritage from countries where it's a recognised name.

I quite like unusual names. But to me August is more of a girls name. Not sure why.

Augustus?

iffyshortlist · 03/10/2013 19:51

Why not? Especially as a nod to heritage/family or friends etc.

TooTryHard · 03/10/2013 19:55

Augustus Gloop to me though....

We specifically like it for the month link.

I know a wee boy called August and he's lovely!

sonlypuppyfat · 03/10/2013 19:57
Shock
Bowlersarm · 03/10/2013 19:58

I'd go for it. It still sounds a bit feminine to me, but with a strong first name it'll be great.

HenriettaChicken · 03/10/2013 20:04

Ooh I love it!

Sleepthief · 03/10/2013 21:25

I like. Also like Augustin Smile. Definitely not girls' names IMO

thegreylady · 03/10/2013 21:57

It means a clown to me :)

Mumblyboo · 03/10/2013 23:54

Augustine is fabulous. My fav theologian too....

Choccyhobnob · 04/10/2013 12:25

I quite like it

squoosh · 04/10/2013 12:44

I know a girl called August.

YDdraigGoch · 04/10/2013 12:49

It's a name for a girl IMO, but it's a middle name, so will never be used/heard again after the christening!

shoobidoo · 04/10/2013 13:59

August and Augustus are definately masculine names!

The female form is Augusta.

I think August is a great, strong name.

fondantfancier · 04/10/2013 16:44

I just finished reading a book with a male August in. I think it's a great name.

DancingLady · 04/10/2013 16:46

Augustus Gloop is all I can think of...

hatebeak · 04/10/2013 16:54

Definitely a boy's name and a brilliant one at that!

Vatta · 04/10/2013 17:19

It can be a boy's name, and is fairly well known as one. There's a book in the bestsellercharts at the moment called wonder where the male lead character is called August, known as auggie for short. I like it.

CarlaBrooni · 04/10/2013 17:34

No no no

MERLYPUSS · 04/10/2013 21:43

Fine.

halfwayupthehill · 04/10/2013 22:04

August wilson is a famous american playwright. The law and order actress has a son called august.

dyslexicdespot · 04/10/2013 22:09

August Strindberg was a famous Swedish playwright. I love the name, perfect for a boy.

PurpleGirly · 04/10/2013 22:16

August Rush is a beautiful film

TooTryHard · 04/10/2013 22:29

This is not negative as anticipated. Hmm. Might go and ask about Sam or Oliver and see if thet get ripped to shreds instead!

I love it but thought it might be too 'out there'. We might cave and use Leo instead but I think August is great and prefer it.
