STUART!

Can you imagine? He didn't speak to me for a few hours after I burst out laughing in his face and asked, incredulously: "what man, in this day in age, would call their son Stuart?"

My brother and his wife were considering Colin Confused

EroticTebbit · 10/09/2013 13:02

Colin is a brilliant name! I know a teen Colin and he is beyond cool.

These kinds of names will be the granny chic fashion for our grandchildren.

ExitPursuedByADragon · 10/09/2013 13:05

I know. Having typed it I realised I quite like it. And Stuart.

peachyyy · 10/09/2013 13:13

He even said that it should be spelt with a u to avoid nn "Stewie" (wha??)... I think of Stuart Little, the thick irish soup and Disco Stu from The Simpsons. No way. It's vetoed. haha

My dad suggested Alan for my DS on the grounds that when he met men called Alan at the golf course they were always nice chaps Grin

Baby Alan.

Sammie101 · 10/09/2013 13:19

I really like the name Stuart, if I was a boy I would have been Stuart!

I know someone with two sons, one named Leander and the other named Rafael Jett :S

Just hoping this person isn't on mumsnet...

ElBombero · 10/09/2013 13:20

Haha I've often thought if the day will come again when Colin, Dennis, Alan, Clive all make a reappearance. Quite like Stuart though, doesn't seem old n certainly won't be common x

peachyyy · 10/09/2013 13:22

Maybe I just know too many middle-aged IT managers with moustaches called Stuart...

OP posts:
GreetingsFrontBottom · 10/09/2013 13:24

Ha ha Quangle. It's true, all Alans are nice.

BOF · 10/09/2013 13:26

Dennis is a great name! I'd consider it.

PeacockPlumage · 10/09/2013 13:27

I quite like Stuart...

Solo · 10/09/2013 13:29

Stuart. Stuey is a fab nn Grin

Trazzletoes · 10/09/2013 13:31

I don't really understand what's wrong with Stuart.

JimbosJetSet · 10/09/2013 13:35

I like Stuart. But then my DS (1 year) has got a name that hasn't been popular since the 70's... So I am biased Smile

cubedmelon · 10/09/2013 13:36

I like Stuart. Smile

peachyyy · 10/09/2013 13:43

Well there is no way I am showing him this thread, he'll feel vindicated.

OP posts:
Shodan · 10/09/2013 13:46

:-) Oh dear. That's DH's name. And he's middle-aged and in IT. No moustache though....

(Don't tell him I said so, but I don't really like the name...)

Shodan · 10/09/2013 13:46

Oops. Forgot where I was. That should be a Grin

peachypips · 10/09/2013 13:51

noisytoys · 10/09/2013 13:52

There's a baby Alan at DDs nursery. None of the other toddlers can pronounce it they all call him Alum Grin

CordeliaRose · 10/09/2013 13:52

I like it too Smile

Good, traditional name which doesn't sound dated to me......

VenusRising · 10/09/2013 13:55

I like Clive. Has a certain something. Clovis is better.
Colin is a pigeon toed geek no no.

But Stewart is a bit Rod, isn't it? A bit of a blond hound?

DaleyBump · 10/09/2013 14:01

My son is due in November and his second name will be Little. About 40 times a day I get "OH, YOU SHOULD CALL HIM STUART!! LOLOLOL." Stabby stab stab.

telsa · 10/09/2013 19:58

What is wrong with Stuart? really. Kevin, not so much, though it is rather popular in Germany, due to Costner.

Frontdoorstep · 10/09/2013 20:03

I have a Stuart, I know others as well, but not all that common, I'm in Scotland so perhaps more popular here.
