Boys name, not sure if I like it, maybe Smile

CockyFox · 02/09/2013 09:58

Surname surely? If not more likely a boy I think.

fridayfreedom · 02/09/2013 09:59

Nosey! Thunderbirds!

meditrina · 02/09/2013 10:02

Neither, unless you want the child to go through life being nn 'nosy'.

But if not in UK, perhaps that idiom won't be known. In which case better on a boy but I suppose possible on either.

runninggirl85 · 02/09/2013 10:04

My friend has just had a beautiful baby girl..and named her Parker.

Seemed like a boy name to me so i just wondered what others thought.

But each to their own :-) and the baby is gorgeous

I used to know a boy called Parker, so boy's name to me. Not a fan of it for either sex I'm afraid...

squoosh · 02/09/2013 11:37

Along with Piper, Parker would be amongst my least favourite of those American surname type name.

JustBecauseICan · 02/09/2013 13:51

Surname.

Nosey.

Tell whoever it is not to do it. It's horrid.

evamummy · 02/09/2013 14:12

Parker, Harper, Piper seem unisex to me. I'm not keen.

AmandaPandtheNightmareMonsters · 02/09/2013 14:13

Boy definitely to me.

I don't like surname names though, so maybe I am out of the loop!

HotPanda · 02/09/2013 21:06

Is she a fan of the program Leverage? There is a female Parker in that, but I think it is her surname maybe.

sausageandorangepickle · 02/09/2013 22:07

Booth's son in the TV programme Bones is called Parker. Sounds ok in that, but it is very American.

Piper and Harper as quoted above both sound more feminine to me.

Lots of people don't like 'frilly' girls names though, and the American surnamey type names are definitely not frilly - Kennedy, Mackenzie, Addison etc

doingthesplitz · 04/09/2013 16:42

Fay Ripley has a daughter called Parker. Mind you, her son is called Sonny so we will have to agree to disagree re taste in names. Smile

NadiaWadia · 04/09/2013 17:17

I know they do use it as a girl's name in the USA. But it is HORRIBLE. 'Nosey parker' is the association most people in the UK would think of.

Alisvolatpropiis · 04/09/2013 17:48

I'd say boys name.

But I'd no more use Parker as a first name than I would Butcher. Occupation names aren't my thing.

usualsuspect · 04/09/2013 17:49

I know a boy called Parker.

OatcakeCravings · 04/09/2013 17:54

Wasn't there a Parker in Desperate Houswives? I thought it was a boys name.

StarUtopia · 21/10/2017 23:08

Awful name. I know someone who called their kid this and gave her a boy's middle name too.

Seriously. PJ for initials. Makes me think of nosey parker first and then PJ and Duncan.

Poor kid is going to spend her life correctly people/teachers etc etc.

Hobbes8 · 21/10/2017 23:11

I always think of Phoebe's boyfriend in Friends, played by Alec Baldwin. Aces!

Prictoriafeckam · 21/10/2017 23:16

Dreadful.

Parker Posey is female.

There's worse things to be called I suppose.

QueenOfThorns · 21/10/2017 23:28

It's a pen!

NikiBabe · 22/10/2017 01:49

Boy.

I know a Parker. It suits him very well. I think when a name is in the abstract and not given to a child yet, people are more critical. But when I met Parker I thought nothing of it. It is just his name.

BlackPepperCrab · 22/10/2017 09:32

It's a pen!

This is my first thought too. Either that, popular surname.
