I knew one years ago, very pretty name.

fanjodisfunction · 28/08/2013 13:20

Does make me think of star trek.

I also knew a deanna, she was a lovely lady I worked with in the states.

Its a nice name, I imagine its not very popular.

onlysettleforbutterflies · 28/08/2013 13:22

I really like it, I knew one years ago but have never heard it since.

DragonsAreReal · 28/08/2013 13:23

I really like it, very pretty and not common.

UriGeller · 28/08/2013 13:24

Don't like it, sorry. Looks and sounds pretty dated.

MrsDavidBowie · 28/08/2013 13:27

No. It only belongs in a Nick Cave song.

PixelAteMyFace · 28/08/2013 13:32

Sounds middle-aged.

DragonsAreReal · 28/08/2013 13:37

There are loads of names ending with Anna around so I really don't think dated.

Aliciana
Tiana
Rhiana
Liana
Keanna

trikken · 28/08/2013 13:38

Really like it.

IKnewHouseworkWasDangerous · 28/08/2013 13:46

I am an utter Geek but the name makes me think Deanna Troy. Its a Star Trek thing. If you are ok with that I think it is a lovely name

Piffpaffpoff · 28/08/2013 13:48

My first though was Star Trek too, sorry!

Onesleeptillwembley · 28/08/2013 13:51

Sounds like a country and western singer with obligatory poor background and sad life with abusive husband. Possibly played by Sissy Spacek. Sorry, that's what popped into my head.

strawberrypenguin · 28/08/2013 13:53

Star Trek! But I like it Smile

BlueStarsAtNight · 28/08/2013 15:42

Star trek here too :)

EldritchCleavage · 28/08/2013 15:42

As in Durbin?
Not keen.

bLooming2 · 28/08/2013 20:02

Lol onesleeptillwrmberly how that random statement popped in your head I dont no did make me giggle and thanks dont think I will have a girl but like this name I like the fact it's not common and like old fashioned names.

I know Blush It did just pop in, though.
Apart from that I don't dislike the name, not my taste, but it's fine.

Frontdoorstep · 28/08/2013 20:07

Do you pronounce that Dean-a or De-anna. I like it either way.

Puffykins · 28/08/2013 20:08

Nick Cave. "And I ain't down here for your money/ I ain't down here for your love/ I ain't down here for your love or money/ I'm down here for your soul."
Go for it!

Puffykins · 28/08/2013 20:14

You might want to check the rest of the lyrics too, though. There's something about Ku Klux furniture and 'I cum of death-head in your frock'??

bLooming2 · 28/08/2013 20:15

I would pronounce it as de-anna
puffykins u have lost me Hmm

StrangeGlue · 28/08/2013 20:18

I'm not keen tbh I think Diana is prettier in spelling and a less confusing name to have for life. I have an unusually spelt surname and its a pain to constantly ring people correcting the spelling on important documents.

OlympicSleepingChampion · 28/08/2013 20:36

Deanna Durbin was a second rate Judy Garland who gave up the film industy in 1949. Although her real name was Edna... Just so you know the background to the name...

But if you like Deanna then go for it. Absolutely! If anyone mentions the old movie star then just tell them it's not relevant to your choice and just give them a look as if they are bonkers Grin

YoungBritishPissArtist · 28/08/2013 20:38

My head wants to pronounce it like 'dina'. I like de-anna, though. You would probably have to correct people.

HenriettaChicken · 28/08/2013 20:38

Nothing second rate about Deanna Durbin. She was a great actress. Such a shame she gave it up so young. I like the name.
