Like in X-men?

Dollydaydream99 · 26/08/2013 20:17

Yes I believe there's one in x-men!

I think it's a negative sounding name, sorry.

Dollybird86 · 26/08/2013 20:19

Hi fellow dolly i love Rogue :)

Humuhumunukunukuapuaa · 26/08/2013 20:19

Like the jockey in jilly coopers jump?

squoosh · 26/08/2013 20:19

I prefer Wretch.

exexpat · 26/08/2013 20:21

Sounds to me like a name for a dog or a racehorse, or possibly a rapper, not for a child.

Phineyj · 26/08/2013 20:21

If you call them that you are asking to have the best behaved, most tediously honest and virtuous DC ever! Bit like calling them Chastity or Joy.

AKissIsNotAContract · 26/08/2013 20:21

First definition in the dictionary is

An unprincipled, deceitful, and unreliable person; a scoundrel or rascal.

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 26/08/2013 20:22

Oooh, I like it. We toyed with Logan for a boy (Wolverine)

exexpat · 26/08/2013 20:22

Is this definition something you would really want to saddle a child with? www.thefreedictionary.com/rogue

Mumblyboo · 26/08/2013 20:22

Horrid. Sorry.

CockyFox · 26/08/2013 20:22

I like it but only because I love the x-men films.

WafflyVersatile · 26/08/2013 20:23

Sounds like a good plan then, phineyj!

I actually quite like it, for a girl. Confused

MorrisZapp · 26/08/2013 20:23

You can't do it. It is awful.

Bowlersarm · 26/08/2013 20:23

Maybe spell it differently. It does have a nice sound but not a nice meaning. You may as well call her:

Criminal
Thief
Rascal
Menace

Etc

Faverolles · 26/08/2013 20:24

Online thesaurus definition of rogue....

"
Main Entry: rogue  [rohg] Show IPA
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: person who deceives, swindles
Synonyms: bad egg, bad news, black sheep, blackguard, charlatan, cheat, cheater, con artist, criminal, crook, defrauder, devil, fraud, heel, hooligan, lowlife, mischief, miscreant, monstrosity, ne'er-do-well, outlaw, problem, rapscallion, rascal, reprobate, scalawag, scamp, scoundrel, swindler, trickster, villain"

Really?

Featherbag · 26/08/2013 20:24

Sorry, can't stand it. Doesn't pass the 'QC test' for me (as in, can you imagine your child's name being read out on national news as the lead counsel for the defence, QC Rogue Smith) and it really does instantly conjure up Anna Paquin in X-Men.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/08/2013 20:26

What?!!!!

Scallywag as mn perhaps?

exexpat · 26/08/2013 20:26

I guess it might appeal to the small minority of people who know the comic book character, but I have never heard of her, and neither will most people your child encounters - but all the English speakers will know the usual meaning of rogue, and will wonder what kind of parents would call their poor child that.

WafflyVersatile · 26/08/2013 20:26

My name means joy so obviously everyone thinks I am one.

Stands to reason. Like star signs.

Smartiepants79 · 26/08/2013 20:26

Please do not spell it differently. That would make it even worse.
It's a comic book character.
Think it's a bit silly.

I'm not a fan of it, ignoring the negative connotations above, frankly the character in the X-Men is really annoying! If you're going with X-Men I prefer Storm.

josiejay · 26/08/2013 20:28

No. Please don't.
