Jesse or Ollie?

Our first baby is due in 21/09 and we have kept the sex a surprise but my DH is convinced it is a boy! On the short list we have Jesse and Ollie.. Just wondered what other peoples thoughts were. We have had mixed reactions from the small amount of people we have mentioned them too.. the older generation tending not to like but younger absolutely love!
Thanks :)

Jesse, I love it!

Nellelephant · 13/08/2013 16:56

Ollie

thisisyesterday · 13/08/2013 16:58

Jesse for sure!

sonlypuppyfat · 13/08/2013 22:55

Jesse proper name, Ollie not a proper name

formicadinosaur · 13/08/2013 23:14

Not keen really. Adore bessy and Tessie though.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 14/08/2013 00:17

Big Jesse. Sorry.

nurseneedshelp · 14/08/2013 00:18

Ollie

Gruntfuttocks · 14/08/2013 00:19

Jesse is lovely - a little bit different without being 'out there'. Ollie is a bit over-used.

BlehPukeVomit · 14/08/2013 00:25

Jesse gets my vote. I really like it. I am not keen on Ollie at all. I find it to twee. (Sorry to any Ollie's out there)

kiwik · 14/08/2013 02:52

Jesse, although I prefer Oliver.
Don't like Ollie at all.

Would you pronounce it Jess or Jessee? I love it, 'twas my grandads name who I never got to meet. My grandads was pronounced Jess but I like both ways.

mrstowers · 15/08/2013 15:07

Ooh I love Jesse. Ollie is very over used where I live sorry. But yes! Jesse!

absentmindeddooooodles · 15/08/2013 15:13

7 people I know / know of have had boys this year. I kid you not 5 are called ollie. I think its a nice name but so over used. Love the name jesse. Definatley top of my list if I have another boy one day!

MrsBungle · 15/08/2013 15:16

Jesse is nicer than Ollie.

Jesse definitely - I have a 16yo one so a tad biased
To the poster who said Big Jesse, grow up

Mutteroo · 16/08/2013 02:01

The only Jesse I know is a girl. Also I can't get the phrase 'Big Jesse' out of my head. That said, it is a good name.
Loads of Ollies out there, most of them are Olivers which I prefer as it gives the child a chance to have a more formal name to use when he's older.

Frontdoorstep · 16/08/2013 10:44

I have to agree with the people who have commented "big Jesse" because that's what I think tbh. I wish I didn't because I actually like the name.

SleepyCatOnTheMat · 17/08/2013 14:28

Has anybody actually used the phrase 'big jessie' in RL since about 1983?

Also interesting that nobody ever worries about girls getting called big jessies, and hence Jessica is no. 3 on the recent ONS list.

Personally I love the name Jesse. And it works - Jesse Eisenberg, for example. Ollie is ok.

SleepyCatOnTheMat · 17/08/2013 14:30

By works I mean actual human beings carry it off!

RemoteControlledChaos · 17/08/2013 21:58

Jesse is lovely. As for "big jessie" - I really don't think that's an issue...
