2012 Top 100 Baby Names

My daughter is within top 100, but not top 10.
Neither DF or I seem to be on this list, but my spelling is a tad different from the original, so will look again.

My sisters name is in here.

Neither mine nor DHs name are there, we're due in January and our chosen boys name is top 20 and girls name is top 70.

Me, dd and ds are all in the top 50. Dp's name is never ever going to feature in any such list Grin

DH is top 10.
I am top 50.
DD is top 30.
DS is top 20.

We all have conventional names. Neither of my sisters are in there but my nephew is top 10.

curlew - that's good to know, as there are some names on this list that it would be depressing to know belonged to a significant portion of the population.

DD is well inside the top 20, I am in the top 50. I wouldn't care if her name was number 1, I think it's beautiful and that's all that matters!

We are all in the top 100 but I think we all have nice names so not really bothered. Lowest position is within top 50 so we are all fairly popularly named - sort of a compliment in a way!

DD (born 2012) is in the top 1100s
DH is top 800s
I am top 900s

Interestingly there almost the same number of babies born with mine and DH's name (in the 40s). DH and DD have foreign names and so I would expect them to be low down the lists. Mine is a flower name and perhaps due a resurgence soon with all the Poppys and Lillys etc.

DD is 4th

DS is 16th

DH and me are outside of top 100.

DS is in the top 5, DD doesn't even rank on the lists and probably never will (unusual name ).
Shockingly my name doesn't rank either. Clearly my name is no longer popular. I know roughly 10 other ladies who share my name, we are all roughly the same age, so it must have been in the top 10 when I was born.
DH is in the top 50.

DS and DH are between 50 and 100, I'm in the 200's.

DH is in the top 50, neither the kids nor I make it in the running at all.

DD is 98th. But she's Isobel, so really she's probably in the top 3.

DD2, due in a week, is 32nd.

DH isn't in the top 100, even though his name is pretty common. Mine is nowhere to be seen, but I wouldn't expect it to be.

One DD is in the top 10 and has been for years. There are thousands and thousands of girls with her name. She is right in the thick of an epidemic of them. Nobody else is anywhere near the top 100.

None of us are , none of my name spelling born last year (it's not made up or unyoooosual either)

DS and I in top 20. DH not in top 100. Funny, cos my name was v unusual as a child!

Report
MabliD · 15/08/2013 22:04

DD is in the 70s, not surprised as her name is old lady trendy - but she's named after family so popularity wasn't a consideration. There were 16 little mes, and 16 little DHs born last year! We are both more unusual spellings of common names from the 80s. Not trendy at all then!

dd1'sname is in top 30

mine is not on the lists
dhs' to my surprise is not in top 100 (not checked further)

dd2 is 1500 something
dd3 400 something
ds i forgot where but there was 9 boys named his name last year.

neither dh nor any of our children are in the top 100 but I'm in the top 30 - which is amusing as dh's name was common when we were children but mine was practically unheard of!

Report
nooka · 16/08/2013 04:34

The short form of both my children's names are in the top ten, and have been for years (dd's name we knew would be popular, ds's name had a huge boom a year or two after he was born). Both ds's full name and dh's name come in around about 150. dd's full name (properly spelled) comes in at around 600 but I suspect if you added up the variety of spellings and all the double barreled versions then the short form could well be no1.

My name is not on the long list, and I'd be surprised if it ever had been to be honest.

We live in Canada now where the short form of dd's name is also very popular, but ds's name is pretty much unheard of (it gets spelled wrong, and we've been asked if he is a girl too)

None of my dc are in top 100 neither I or DH. Saying that, my kids pretty unusual names.

DP is outside the top 1100
DS is outside top 400
My name is usually around the 3-400 mark

I'm at 172nd but would have thought a lot lower.
DH is 7th (which he hates lol)
DD1 and DS1 are both joint at 28th on each list!
DD2 is 722nd but I would have expected it to be more popular cos it's so pretty!

Report
2children2cats · 18/08/2013 08:49

Me and the children are, dh isn't but his name is really normal and perfectly common (especially in our age group).
If we had given dd the more traditional spelling of her name then she wouldn't be top 100.
