2012 Top 100 Baby Names

My daughter is within top 100, but not top 10.
Neither DF or I seem to be on this list, but my spelling is a tad different from the original, so will look again.

My sisters name is in here.

Both DDs are top 100, DD1 is top 10. DH and I are not.

Reality · 13/08/2013 08:12

The boys are top 10.

DD is top 40.

I'm not in there.

DH is, just.

JogOnKitty · 13/08/2013 08:13

Dd is top 10, ds2 is top 40 and ds1,me and oh arent top 100.

HorryIsUpduffed · 13/08/2013 08:14

Thanks VeryDull. It's obviously subjective - I combined Georgia and Georgina and Georgie, for example, because I think in use they are all likely to be Georgie. But I didn't combine Amelie and Amelia because although the spelling is very similar the sounds aren't. I was tempted to combine Amelia with Emilia and Emelia though.

northernlurker · 13/08/2013 08:18

Was worried dd3 would be in but still ok. Dd1 and dd2 no, dh no, me yes but not in my age group iyswim.

IShallCallYouSquishy · 13/08/2013 08:18

DD, way out the top 100
Me, middle-ish top 100
DH, way out the top 100 (your bog standard late 70's type name)

HorryIsUpduffed · 13/08/2013 08:18

And I felt vindicated that Eva/Ava/Evie variants which I find ubiquitous here, once combined, come definitely highest.

I didn't even need to combine Henry with Harry, or Lizzy/Beth/Betsy to jump those up the rankings.

I did the work mainly to check that my bump's name isn't deceptively far down. But because there aren't lots of variations there's no such "danger".

JennyPiccolo · 13/08/2013 08:19

None of us are in it, all very scottish names.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 13/08/2013 08:23

DS is top 20.

Dd isn't in there.

Both DH and I aren't in there either but I would have been number one in the year I was born.

bruffin · 13/08/2013 08:33

DS is no15 but its a classic name that probably has never been out of the top 20. I am really surprised DDs name is no longer top 100 as it was top 10 when she was born and is a classic biblical name which wouldnt really date.
Neither DH or I are in the top 100 but they are fairly typical 1950/60s names.

bruffin · 13/08/2013 08:45

Just looked on the other link and DH 178 and i am 1018. I am surprised about DH name being more popular than mine as i havent heard of a child called DH name in years.

BikeRunSki · 13/08/2013 08:46

I like boys name no.15 too Bruffin. It is DS's too.

Yonihadtoask · 13/08/2013 08:48

No. DS is 15 though - he has what I thought was a classical name.

Mine and DH names aren't mentioned at all.

Yonihadtoask · 13/08/2013 08:49

Ooops read it again, and DS is there - but right down at the very bottom.

Both DCs easily in the Top 100 (to our chagrin - we had loved both their names for years...) but we are nowhere to be seen......

Certainly would have been entirely different for me though around the time that I was born - pretty sure mine would have been a Top 10 name

ZingWidge · 13/08/2013 08:55

DH and I are not on the list!

we have 6 kids and they have middle names, that's 12.

11 are on the list, mainly in top 20, not top ten.
DD was born last year, the boys names we chose for her are also on the list.

Choccyhobnob · 13/08/2013 09:11

I think I win, my name is number 2969!

DH - top 40
Sister 1 - top 10
Sister 2 - Top 40
Brother 1 - Top 12
Brother 2 - Top 30

So glad I have an unusual name! Our chosen names for future children are number 370 something for a girl and just inside top 100 for a boy (which is still too popular for my liking!)

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 13/08/2013 09:12

DS is just outside the top ten.
I am outside the top 100 but there are three short versions of my name higher up the chart, and I've added all the obvious spellings/shortenings together and got 3800+ which would put me up to #5.
There were only 13 boys named my DH's name in 2012.

WheresMyCow · 13/08/2013 09:12

For boys names my dad is in the 20's, DS in the 30's and DH in the 450's.

For girls names I'm in the 50's and my DM is way down in the 3200's somewhere - when she was born it was in the top 20!

FreedomOfTheTess · 13/08/2013 09:30

I know it wouldn't change the Ava/Eva/Eve names being on the top spot, but I wouldn't have counted Evelyn among the Eve variants as it's not related to Eve at all.

Evelyn was originally a surname, originated from the first name Aveline, which in turn came from the Germanic name Avila. And of course, it's original (proper?!) pronunciation is evuh-lyn, not eve-lyn.

HorryIsUpduffed · 13/08/2013 09:35

I combine them because nearly all the Evelyns I know are known as Eve/Evie.

RememberingMyPFEs · 13/08/2013 09:48

DD (2weeks old) is in the top 80. I'm in the 90s and DH doesn't feature

TobyLerone · 13/08/2013 09:56

DS is in top 30.

DD is in top 70.

DH is in top 50.

I'm not in the top 100.

DC3 is unlikely to be in the top 100. There are a few names we like, but they're right down the bottom.

FieryChipotle · 13/08/2013 09:58

The shortened version of DS2 is in the top 20 but my other DC are not in the top 100, nor are me or DH! I'm quite surprised that DS1 doesn't feature as I always thought his name was relatively common!
