2012 Top 100 Baby Names

My daughter is within top 100, but not top 10.
Neither DF or I seem to be on this list, but my spelling is a tad different from the original, so will look again.

My sisters name is in here.

Ds 1 number 1
Ds 2 number 7

Dd1 (not born yet!) will either be 1 or 65 or 34.

MissStrawberry · 12/08/2013 20:57

Where can you see how many of each name were born please?

emsyj · 12/08/2013 20:57

I'm at 50. DH, DD1 and DD2 don't feature - DD1 at 300 and something and DD2 and 400 and something, not looked up DH but they all have 'ordinary' and not unusual names that just aren't especially popular at the moment.

emsyj · 12/08/2013 21:00

On the full statistics linked to above MissStrawberry - it's a spreadsheet.

Ikeameatballs · 12/08/2013 21:02

Ex-p, me, and dd not in lists.

I can't see beyond 100 on this but dd will probably be between 100-150 as she was approx 95h and falling when born and she is 7 now.

Ds is top 20, fallen slightly since he was born.

I have never been to 100 though think. Might be on the gradual increase.

Ex-p was pretty popular for his time but not now (much like him, ha, ha!)

Lozza70 · 12/08/2013 21:04

None of us are on the list of top 100's but I'll bet both DH and I would be on a list from the 70's! DS1 is nowhere on the entire list from this year but there were only 4 boys with the same name as him the year he was born. DS2 is around the 200 mark but funny enough there is another wee boy in his nursery with the same name.....

I think you just have to love the names you have chosen and never mind if they are popular.

sleepyhead · 12/08/2013 21:11

Ds1 just makes the top 100 but none of the rest of us are there.

We're in Scotland though and both the ds's are solid top 50 names here.

Don't think anyone's had my name for a few years now.

Jo178 · 12/08/2013 21:15

DD is number 10, DH is number 53 and I'm not in it at all. Smile

MothershipG · 12/08/2013 21:15

My name was 3rd most popular the year I was born - I'm not even in the top 100 now. Smile

TheBookofRuth · 12/08/2013 21:16

DD is not in the top 100, despite having a name frequently decried as "far too popular" every time it's mentioned here!

Hazelbrowneyes · 12/08/2013 21:20

No kids yet but DH and I are both outside of the top 100.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/08/2013 21:23

We have eight names between 4 people - 3 of them are on the list.

Piddlepuddle · 12/08/2013 21:41

Lynette, as many boys were called Issac (ie as in Isaac, spelt incorrectly) as were called Jeremy - is bonkers!

Lozza70 · 12/08/2013 21:46

Just looked at the full list and am Shock at the poor boys named Baby!! Lack of imagination??

Dillydollydaydream · 12/08/2013 21:46

Ds1 top 10
ds2 nowhere in top 100
Dd1 nowhere in top 100
Dd2 top 20

noisytoys · 12/08/2013 21:49

DD2 is number 69. DD1 isn't on the list but people always say how well the 2 names go together (Saffron and Willow)

GraduallyGoingInsane · 12/08/2013 21:56

I'm not, nor is DH. I bet I end up there soon though as my name is 'coming round' again thanks to a particular celeb.

DD1 and DD2 are between 50 and 100. DD3 is top 20 and DD4 isn't there at all. Odd, as I'd have thought they'd all be around the same level of popularity - DD1 would have been considerably higher if we'd opted for the English way of spelling her name.

HorryIsUpduffed · 12/08/2013 21:56

OK, for what it's worth I've just spent a couple of hours combining alternative spellings of all names scoring at least 100 (ie a manageable set of boys and of girls, at around 400 each rather than the 5000+).

The top tens are:

1 HARRI / HARRY / HARRIS / HARRISON 9,680
2 OLIVER / OLIVIER / OLLIE / OLLY 8,337
3 JACOB / JAKUB / JAKE 8,181
4 MOHAMED / MOHAMMAD / MOHAMMED / MUHAMMAD / MUHAMMED 8,006
5 THOMAS / TOM / TOMAS / TOMMY / TOMOS 6,720
6 CHARLES / CHARLIE 6,659
7 JAC(K) 6,436
8 JAMES / JAMIE 5,720
9 ALFIE / ALFRED 5,218
10 RYLEE / RYLEY / RILEY 5,208

1 AVA / EVA / EVE / EVIE / EVELYN 10,692
2 SOFIA / SOPHIA / SOPHIE / ZOFIA 7,824
3 ISABEL / ISABELLA / ISABELLE / ISOBEL / ISOBELLE / IZABELLA 7,620
4 AMELIA 7,293
5 LILY / LILLY / LILLIE 6,982
6 MAIA / MAJA / MAYA 6,020
7 EMILY / EMILIA / EMELIA 5,393
8 OLIVIA / LIVIA / OLIWIA 4,854
9 JESSICA / JESSIE 4,468
10 GRACE / GRACIE 4,415

ConcreteElephant · 12/08/2013 22:05

DS (born last year) is top 20, DD is top 50 (just!). Both have fairly traditional names so I'm not at all surprised. DH is top 50, again pretty traditional, biblical in fact.

I'm top 850 ;) which is highly amusing because if you put 100 women born in the mid 70s in a room together you'd probably find you couldn't move without falling over someone with my name...

ithaka · 12/08/2013 22:07

DD2 is in the top 40. DD1 isn't in the top 100, neither am I or my DH. However, we are in Scotland & I suspect the Scottish list would be a wee bit different.

MeerkatMerkin · 12/08/2013 22:10

My name is in top 10.

DS and DH not on there.

sonlypuppyfat · 12/08/2013 22:12
