An alternative to Noah needed..!

As its just too popular, and sorry girlies but its about to surge with the masses too- in 2014 theres a blockbuster out called 'Noah'. Many huge names, Russell Crowe stars as Noah (ugh), Sir Anthony Hopkins is in it and I think its going to be huge.

www.imdb.com/title/tt1959490/

Can anyone suggest names with a similar 'vibe' to Noah we may like??

Many thanks x

Isaac, Jeremiah, Zephaniah, Ezekiel

LittleMissSnowShine · 06/08/2013 22:11

If Hebrew / biblical names are your thing I love the ones that end in - el for a boy.

Samuel, Nathaniel, Gabriel, Michael.

Wishfulmakeupping · 06/08/2013 22:14

Jonah

Thank you, its not so much the religious aspect of Noah that appeals. It became my favourite 5 years ago as I considered it traditional whilst being fairly unheard of (at the time!!!). I love that it is both strong and soft sounding, OH likes that it can't be shortened and I do like the meaning also

Seth

lollydollydrop · 06/08/2013 22:20

Yep, I like Seth for the geek chic appeal, as does OH. But our surname begins with an S and so it can get a bit 'lispy'. Shame, as I had also liked Sebastian. (Though my mum said 'Bastard?!') Hmm

If you like Noah go with it :) but if you're that bothered then don't! (Stating the obvious I know but just wanted to point out option of keeping Noah as I've always loved that name!!) as I like that name maybe you'll like my other name that I like of Arthur??

Vajazzler · 06/08/2013 22:40

I have a Noah and he's the only one i know. Go for it!

Alisvolatpropiis · 06/08/2013 22:53

Oren
Torin

Neither are Biblical but fit the simple sound style Noah has.

Alisvolatpropiis · 06/08/2013 22:54

Do love Noah though.

I do love Arthur Bambi. My OH agreed with that one too from a previous list. Think Noah will always be his fave though. I probably care more about popularity than him.

Love Jacob too, although I know thats even more popular than Noah?

Liked Zachary once but was vetoed
Joseph maybe
Like Alexander- that was my grandpas name :)
OH used to love Joshua but I dont like the 'sh' sounds

Yoan (yo-an)?

LittleMissSnowShine · 07/08/2013 08:10

I think you should keep Noah, having read all your reasons for liking it! You might be surprised - my DS is 3 and goes to lots of baby groups and a childminder and i've only come across two Noahs so far, so I don't think its too overused

PinkGlove · 07/08/2013 08:14

Hmm, could have written this post myself! I vetoed Noah for this and one of the many other reasons, going with our surname, too biblical with his brothers name etc etc

Other names I liked

Leo
Evan
Benjamin
Samuel
Louis

FortyFacedFuckers · 07/08/2013 09:40

I love Noah but didn't use it as its too popular for me.

I also like Jude.

FreedomOfTheTess · 07/08/2013 10:44

There are several minor Biblical characters called Joah (meaning "brother of God"), which I think is a good alternative to Noah.

UnstoppableCousCous · 07/08/2013 10:47

Silas?

lollydollydrop · 07/08/2013 12:29

I like Arlo and Jude. Perhaps we would regret not using Noah though..

Jacob
Arthur
Arlo
Alexander all good so far
