An alternative to Noah needed..!

As its just too popular, and sorry girlies but its about to surge with the masses too- in 2014 theres a blockbuster out called 'Noah'. Many huge names, Russell Crowe stars as Noah (ugh), Sir Anthony Hopkins is in it and I think its going to be huge.

www.imdb.com/title/tt1959490/

Can anyone suggest names with a similar 'vibe' to Noah we may like??

Many thanks x

What about Boaz? (pronounced Bo-az). It sounds a bit like Noah and it is a biblical name (Old Testament), like Noah. Boaz was a rich farmer.

I have only ever met 1 Noah so would hardly call it popular here. Every child round here is called Zack with a brother called Max or Sam.

Noah is such an awful story though, I don't get how people can look past all the slaughter and evil, and use the name.

See here / and here.

Wasn't because of Chris Evans?

OP are you my long lost twin?! I'm having this exact dilemma... plus you posted your original post on my birthday!!
We've been considering Ethan, Zachary, Jacob and potentially Isaac as alternatives Smile

I've a family member who regrets her name choices, Noah included, but she's been very unlucky in that all of the DCs chosen names went from not popular, to top 3 within a few years of her naming her DCs & they meet a lot with the same names

Thanks very much, I understand what you mean ;) I wonder if anyone regretted not choosing their original name...

Oh Lordy! I didn't mean that it is a bargain bin name. I meant that any perceived popularity will wane - probably before your child starts school. Noah is a wonderful name.

Lol! Good point! I hope he wouldn't be bargain bin name!

DS has a friend called Noah - he's the only Noah in a reasonably large primary school (Midlands) so not outrageously popular here. But - I'm not one to talk - 2 of my children have top three ten names.

Another thing to bear in mind is that the film will be in people's consciousness for a few months, your son will have his lovely name for years and years to come - long after the DVD of the film is in the bargain bin of the supermarket.
