NNs for William?

DC1 due in 7 weeks....DH has fallen in love with William for a boy. I quite like it, but think its a bit grown up sounding for a baby/toddler so would like a nn option. Only I really don't like Billy - are there any others you can think of as I'm drawing a blank!

TIA Smile

lotsa I like Will but it suits an older child/teen in my eyes. Maybe I'm over thinking this...! (Ps are you still lurking on the sept board?)

ThisIsYourSong · 26/07/2013 08:16

I know a child who has the nn Wilkie

LotsaTuddles · 26/07/2013 08:34

I quite like Will for a little baby, once you start calling him it, it will stick and it'll feel odd that you thought it wouldn't suit such a small child.

I am indeed. Keep trying to catch up. Today's my last day at work, so will hopefully be around a bit more Grin

DaddyPigsMistress · 26/07/2013 08:41

I have a Will.
He is called Wills,Willow, willbilbobaggins or wilfredo

Kittenkatzen · 26/07/2013 09:32

Thanks ladies, I guess Will could work, and like you say it will stick once you start calling it. Am loving all the bilbo variants too, very cute Smile

My son's best friend is William, they're both 3 and a hal, everyone has always called him William, never a need for a nickname and its never seemed to old, perfectly suited him at all stages, newborn, toddler, little boy. I sometimes call him WillyBob! No idea why but mostly he's just William and its a lovely name

TruJay · 26/07/2013 20:16

*half

merrymonsters · 26/07/2013 21:18

I have a William and we've never used a nickname. Some of the children at school have started to call him Will.

I also don't like Billy.

My William was called Will from a newborn. He is now a teenager and it has stuck

AmazingBouncingFerret · 27/07/2013 16:50

Everyone calls 12 year old nephew Squill but that's a fairly offbeat kinda nickname Grin

AmazingBouncingFerret · 27/07/2013 16:50

Oh and WillyWorm.

These aren't the sort of nicknames you were after are they?

outtolunchagain · 27/07/2013 16:55

My William is Will at school and Wills or William at home , or Wibble ( from Wibbly pig !)

nooka · 27/07/2013 18:22

The majority of the Williams I know are called Bill. I do know a couple of Willies though!

miffybun73 · 27/07/2013 18:24

I know a 3 year old William known as Will. It really suits him.

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 27/07/2013 18:24

Ds2 was always William as a baby and young child. He's 11 now and usually will or spud

LittleBallOfFur · 27/07/2013 19:26

My William is Will (and also Wilbifur, Willybobs, and most recently,Sir William of Dawdleshire).

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 27/07/2013 19:30

I have a Will known as Will, Wills, Wilbur and Bob. Grin

Plus a lot of other random NN's that have nothing to do with his actual name.

SpanielFace · 27/07/2013 19:42

Our William is Will, Willibob, Will-I-Am (I hate that one but it comes out sometimes!), Wilfred, Wilhelm, and occasionally Señor Milkychops (blame DH for that one! Grin). He's 10 months.

VinegarDrinker · 27/07/2013 19:47

DS has a 3yo friend at nursery called Bill. Before I met him it sounded odd for a toddler but now he's just Bill Grin
