Not sure how I feel about using my boys name, George, if Kate and William use it. Am I being stupid or would this put you off? Not due until December so is it a big deal??

Collette is that your chosen name? When are you due?

Anyone got any suggestions of alternatives to George of a similar style? I think that if I can't find anything I love as much I will stick with George, but might explore other options in case there is something I love but haven't thought of. Find the sex out in 2 weeks, but have a gut feeling its going to be a boy!

There's always Andrew, Edward, William...

I honestly think it'll be fine by December. Also - do you know any 30ish year olds called William or Harry? If so, bet you don't think of the princes...

I love the Alexander Louis bit, not that they'll be used much.
They might be - remember Edward VIII was always called 'David' and George VI was 'Bertie' to their family.

No he's already here. He was born before she announced her pregnancy.

I know it's a popular name but am still pissed off. I just hope the royal baby business dies down. I think lots of people aspire to be them so I expect it will be number one name next year.

Not IRL but William Grundy in the Archers, who I think was called after Prince William... for some reason I always visualise him as looking like Wills in gamekeepers clothes ...and sometimes am vaguely surprised Wills doesn't have a Borsetshire accent.

That's probably just me though Grin

You're probably right, perhaps the name will even go down in popularity as it may put some people off using it. My main annoyance is that Dh wants Jacob and I know he will use this to put me off George and get his own way! I got married a couple of months after Kate and inadvertently had a similar lace dress ( though I do think a lot of wedding dresses look the same!) and same first dance song. Seem to make a habit of doing the same things but with considerably less style and grace. Worried I might look like a wanna be royal stalker!

Grimma to be fair George I'V was known as Bertie because his names was Albert* and George was only his regnal name.

*Queen Victoria decreed that there could be no King Albert because her Albert couldn't be King. They've all dopily followed that ever since.

SadPander I'm sure nobody thinks that. It's your own mind picking up the similarities - most people are too absorbed in their own lives to notice the details of someone else's!

Sorry Sadpander I was wrong :-( it's still a class name and let's face it, literally fit for a little prince :-) I would still use it. And as said it will prob go down in popularity now.

You also have proof by way of this thread that you thought of it first - if you're reading this Kate, It was Sadpanders name first!!!

Haha thank you Hawk! And Mrs Mongoose, yes you are probably totally right! I'm awful for over analysing at the best of times and baby names bring out the worst in me! I still love it so definitely not ruling it out.

Sorry for reviving a dead thread but did you go for it?
Really enjoyed reading all the predictions about the future - although know the Queen didn’t die within a couple of years Grin
