Not sure how I feel about using my boys name, George, if Kate and William use it. Am I being stupid or would this put you off? Not due until December so is it a big deal??

Can we consider for a minute whether William would want his father to abdicate in his favour?

Because I really think he'd prefer his life to be vaguely normal for as long as possible.

That's why I holidaying on the Isles of Scilly - they hate him there Grin

WetAugust · 22/07/2013 23:13

Could be Francis. That was one of Diana's names.

themilkmonster · 22/07/2013 23:50

I hope they call him Arthur Smile

justhayley · 23/07/2013 00:14

Anyone think it would be great if they called it Tyler after recent news lol.

I think If you like George and the royal baby is also George go for it. Things will calm down by the time you are due think it may be a bit Blush if you had yours the day after.

What was Diana's fathers name? Is he Michael or am I making that up?
Would be nice to include that or Spencer somewhere.

NomDeClavier · 23/07/2013 00:25

I doubt they will break strong tradition and give the baby the same name as so close a relative as an uncle, so that puts Henry and James out. Frederick is still a contender IMO as the relationship is relatively distant. He's 40th in line and they live in LA.

BeCool · 23/07/2013 02:52

I loved George for a boy, but the Georges Bush kind of fucked the name up for me.

Oh and I had girls Grin

The Cameron's had DD1's name as a top choice. I was very relieved when they went elsewhere.

mathanxiety · 23/07/2013 05:08

Names I think they might use:
George, Louis, Philip, Michael, John (Princess Diana's father's name as well as the name of a brother of George VI), Charles (Prince Charles and also Diana's brother), James, Arthur or Albert. Perhaps Patrick? Alexander, Christian and Leopold might be outside chances.

Unlikely Gary will be under consideration.

SkinnyDecaffGiraffe · 23/07/2013 06:38

If Albert, Albie is a dreadful nn. Please don't do it !

Hooleywhipper · 23/07/2013 06:47

James I think

Katnisscupcake · 23/07/2013 06:50

I really hope they don't call it George because the name is truly awful...

Mainly because I have an ex called George who didn't wash from one day to the next, picked his nose and wiped it on his wall and picked his belly button which was all infected and disgusting. Yes, he was a grown man... Really grim Shock.

I figure that even if anyone works out from that who I am, they'll be too embarassed to admit that they know him too...

Clearly that's a very personal reason for not liking the name, but it'll still make me think of him (yuck) when I hear it so Kate and Wills, if you're reading, DON'T DO IT TO ME!!!

ElaineVintage · 23/07/2013 07:23

I think they will choose the name James.

hawkmcqueen · 23/07/2013 09:43

I really hope they don't call him James! I have one and so do a lot of other people and we don't need any more! I am adding to OPs horror about George, please also add James ;-)

pygmy · 23/07/2013 09:52

I think they'll go for Alexander

TwoTearsInABucket · 23/07/2013 10:08

I am adding to be OP and hawk's horror. Don't use Edward - its the only boy's name I vaguely like and DS2 due in November.

Although they can have my absolute first choice of boy's name which is Axel!

Serenity6 · 23/07/2013 10:09

Prince Alexander would be nice!

ringaringarosy · 23/07/2013 10:20

doesnt it have to be a name from the house of tudor though/?it cant just be any kings name apparently.

ringaringarosy · 23/07/2013 10:21

or is it windsor?i dont know not really a royalist but i am excited to hear what they call it,i hope its not george as i have a george, but i tcuod be,i think george james or edward.

squoosh · 23/07/2013 10:43

They have a very limited list don't they.

Charles is out, Andrew is out, Edward is out, William is out, Henry is out, James is out (Edward's son is a James).

Patrick is too Catholic, Michael is too Catholic

Of the names suggested here I'd go for Arthur or Edgar. Prince Eddie is a good name.

I really can't see them going for Albert, way too penis-y.

soontobeslendergirl · 23/07/2013 10:49

Squoosh - unless they go completely unconventional which I don't think they will, then I am sticking to my Edgar or Alfred with David as an outsider. Could be Arthur too I guess but I reckon that will be No2 son :o

I think it will be Edgar/Alfred, Arthur and Mary for the family

NomDeClavier · 23/07/2013 11:02

I think Edmund is in the running.

arabesque · 23/07/2013 11:03

Does it have to be the name of a former King? I mean there was a King Richard 1 etc so why can't this King be a something the first?

John has a classic royal feel about it and I think Princess Diana's father was called Johnnie so it would be a nice way of remembering her.
