Baby is due in 10 weeks so plenty of time to change my (indecisive) mind but our current shortlists are...

Eva - love this but is it too common?
Nancy - too common?
Roxy - cool or stripper like?!
Jeannie - oh not keen but I could work on him
middle name will be Rae

Sonny - does this work as an adult name?
Leo
Austin - would he get called Aussy?!
Middle name would be Patrick

Jeannie definitely, especially as you seem to be worried about using a name that is too common.
Quite like Austin. I dont think boys get y nicknames as much, he's more likely to be Aus which I think is quite cool.

Iheartcustardcreams · 14/07/2013 08:30

Love sonny and nancy. I have only met one of each. Also like Leo but it is quite popular here (SE).

jalapeno · 14/07/2013 09:27

I love Nancy but have heard of a few being born lately. It was originally short for Anne or Anna I think how about that? Jeannie is lovely I love Jean too (and Gene for a boy!) Austin and Leo are good, really don't like Sonny, doesn't sound like a real name to me sorry!

BlueStarsAtNight · 14/07/2013 09:46

I'd say Nancy, but not sure about Nancy Rae as makes me think Nancy Regan. I like Roxy as a nn but not as a full name, and Jeannie is ok but again sounds like a nn to me. Eva is definitely very common so wouldn't have that.

For boys, I like Leo but think Austin sounds better with Patrick. Really dislike Sonny.

aftermay · 14/07/2013 09:47

Roxy and Leo

funnymummy2931 · 14/07/2013 09:50

Eva is the nicest & Sonny

Onetwo34 · 14/07/2013 09:51

I like all your boys names but I only like Jeannie. Roxy Rae is pretty atrocious. Sorry!
Jeannie is great though!

HenriettaPye · 14/07/2013 09:54

Eva Rea and Austin Patrick

Both gorgeous names

rosyryan · 14/07/2013 10:33

I only like Jeannie from your lists - but different strokes for different folks! Roxy Rae is truly hideous.

Congratulations on your imminent arrival.

BabyStone · 14/07/2013 10:35

Eva from the girls and I love Sonny and Leo

Apileofballyhoo · 14/07/2013 10:39

Leo is nice, and I like Leon too. Austin is nice too. Eva is the most classic of the girls' names. Ava would be good too. I don't really like Roxie, makes me think of people screaming at each other in Eastenders!

jalapeno · 14/07/2013 11:21

Goodness, totally missed both Roxy and Rae, dislike both of those. Rae just makes all of the names sound really "country" if you see what I mean. Even Jeannie which I like sounds dreadful as Jeannie Rae.

Roxy was the name of my dads dog when I was small so may be an influence but I think she sounds like a bit of a goer so I wouldn't do it!

starfish12 · 14/07/2013 11:50

Ha ha, oh thought up Roxy last night mind you he was a bit drunk! I know what you mean re Rae and it sounding a bit 'country'. We not hell bent on it but its more of a personal thing where a family member called rachel died and so wanted it to be in memory of her but dont like rachel hence rae...
Who would have thought picking a name would be so hard!!!

I like Eva, and Jeannie if it's a nickname (Jeanette?)

Leo and Austin both nice for a boy.

trapezegirl · 14/07/2013 15:27

I like Nancy or Leo.

exoticfruits · 14/07/2013 15:44

Eva and Leo

AnythingNotEverything · 14/07/2013 15:53

Nancy is lovely. It's on our "do we dare" list. Is it becoming common? I've never seen it mention on MN or in real life.

jalapeno · 14/07/2013 20:58

That's a lovely idea for remembering your relative, I think Rachel would be a lovely middle name so just a taste thing I suppose Smile

Layl77 · 14/07/2013 21:00

Eva, nancy jeannie all nice. All boys names nice too.

absentmindeddooooodles · 14/07/2013 21:02

My oh had a dd called Roxy. :-) and ds was going to be so sonny. Love love love it :-)

absentmindeddooooodles · 14/07/2013 21:03

Has not had

CheckpointCharlie · 14/07/2013 21:05

LOVE Roxy Rae and Austin. Although all your names are really cool.
I know a cool Roxy (child) and a cool Rae (adult) so those names work well for me! I know an adult Austin too.

And dd2 was nearly Jeannie!!

CheckpointCharlie · 14/07/2013 21:05

That would be Blush

scripsi · 14/07/2013 21:08

I love Eva and Leo

youarewinning · 14/07/2013 21:09
