Hi all,

I'm 30 weeks pregnant & my partner is Moroccan & he wants our baby girl to have a Moroccan or Muslim name, which is fine but the couple of names he has come up with I do not like, I really want to like one he chooses but it's too much of an important decision to agree to one I don't like, I have a few that I have looked up & written down to show him that I like but wonder if anyone could help me come up with some more as i am only getting them off of internet searches as i don't know many names from this origin myself. I would like something fairly unusual (in this country at least), feminine & pretty, possibly with a nice meaning & something that can't easily be shortened to something silly!

Thank you xxx

How do you pronounce Sheherazade?

shuh-HERR-uh-zard. She's the princess in the Arabian Nights.

Zahara - is Arabic for white (so probably best if she is fair headed, but of course this isn't necessarily the case). It also means flower in Swahili.

Almeta - It means ambitious in Arabic.

Halima - Means gentle, patient in Arabic.

Shakila - Means pretty in Arabic.

Amala: Means hopeful.

Amira: Means Princess

Just gave the meanings in case they mattered to you. Ignore if not :)

Esma was my favourite growing up. Like a cooler, less used, more Arabic version of Esme.
