Is this the worst name ever?

I'm watching 16 and pregnant (currently addicted to any pregnancy related programs) and the couple featured have decided to call their baby boy Gannon.

I don't mean to be rude but I think it's awful! All I can think of is gammon!!

Just wondered whether I'm weird for finding it such an unappealing name and what you lot though of it?

Urgh! Makes me think of Gonad or Gamete. Neither of which is desirable, I would say.

The final big bad boss in the Zelda game was called Ganon!

Though only one 'N'.

Tis an Irish name meaning 'fair'

I just can't quite get my head around it. "This is baby Gannon"...

He's going to spend a lot of time saying 'No, not gammon...:

Definitely each to their own, I just had quite a strong negative reaction to it!

gannon dewayne... wouldn't be my first choice that's for sure!

It's funny how certain names just make you go 'Urgh!' This one doesn't but others definitely do!

Do you mind me asking which names in particular make you go urgh? I'm bored and curious!

There was a thread on here the other day with reference to a Rhionce (Rhianna/Beyonce) that I thought was as bad as it gets. There was another a while ago with a Pystol on the list!

I'm not keen on Sarah, Millicent or Freya for girls, all of them are just really unappealing to me, don't know why. I'll have a think for boys names.

I don't like Michael (little boy at my primary school with dirty ears and greasy hair that used to chase me around and try and kiss me, its put me off for life!!), and im not keen on William or George and again i don't know why.

Nigel. Something about that combination of sounds just makes me shudder.

Geoffrey -really don't like that written down but Jeffry looks ok imo, have no idea why though!

100% agree with Nigel (for some reason makes me picture a pervy bloke with big horsey teeth??) and I definitely don't like kevin as its fil's name and he is a complete knobber!!

Gannon!! It's truly dire. Someone up thread said it's an Irish name - it's an Irish surname alright, I've never heard it used as a first name before.

It reminds me of gannet.
