Philippa Eve or Felicity Winter?

We're having twin girls, and we're really undecided on a name for our our second twin. Vivienne Gray (nn Vivi, and Gray is a family name) is a likely candidate for twin 1's name, and we're thinking about Philippa (nn Pippa/Pip) or Felicity (nn Flick) for the second name.

Which do you like better, and why? Middle name would probably be Eve, Winter, or Eleanor. All of them are meaningful to us, so not just aesthetic choices.

BunnyLebowski · 23/05/2013 11:43

Fab fab fab names Smile

Caladria · 23/05/2013 11:45

love FW. Great names btw

Still18atheart · 23/05/2013 11:52

Like both

But biased towards Philippa but prefer winter as mn

Eskino · 23/05/2013 11:53

. Don't like "Facility". They both sound like victorian romance novel nom-de-plumes

evamummy · 23/05/2013 11:58

Felicity! Much nicer than Philippa imo.

FingersCrossedLegsNot · 23/05/2013 12:13

Felicity Winter....fab!

JojoMags · 23/05/2013 12:17

Felicity Winter is fabulous and goes beautifully with VG. Prefer Fliss to Flick as a nn. Like Philippa Eve too. Pippa and Vivi are a great combo. On balance, FW. Too good not to use.

notso · 23/05/2013 12:17

I like Philippa but not really any of the other names.

However if they are family names then the reasoning means more than the sound of the names.

PopGoesTheStoat · 23/05/2013 12:21

I really don't like either sorry, they sound a bit too "storybook" imho. I do like Eleanor though, and Vivienne is a lovely name.

farmersdaughter · 23/05/2013 13:23

Viv and Pip sounds like a brilliant naughty little pair delightful.

KittenofDoom · 23/05/2013 16:35

Felicity Winter reminds me of that poem 'Timothy Winters'

ArtemisCake · 23/05/2013 16:47

I like Eleanor Winter, think it sound great with Vivienne

PopGoesTheStoat · 23/05/2013 18:00

second Eleanor winter Smile

Amy106 · 23/05/2013 18:07

Philippa Eleanor is a beautiful name.

MrsHelsBels74 · 23/05/2013 18:12

Winter as a name?

Decoy · 23/05/2013 18:17

Much prefer Philippa/Pip/Pippa. I do like Felicity but really dislike "Flick".

Linguaphile · 23/05/2013 18:42

Hmm, almost an even split... They need a poll feature on here!

I am a Philippa, known as Pip, and feel my name has served me well. I like Felicity, but have never been keen on Flick as a nickname. I think Philippa and Felicity go the best together of the 3 names.

KittenofDoom · 23/05/2013 19:35

I don't like either of them, but do like Eleanor. Eleanor Winter would be lovely. Love Vivien, but as you see I prefer the less frilly spelling.

Linguaphile · 23/05/2013 19:35

Thanks, littlepeas. I'd be inclined to agree, but wonder if the pair of them together would sound a bit too similar (when said out loud).and maybe a little on the horsey side...

OP posts:
KittenofDoom · 23/05/2013 19:37

They would probably get called Flip and Flick

Linguaphile · 23/05/2013 19:37

Is Vivien not the boys' spelling? I actually like the less frilly version but was told it was more for boys!

KittenofDoom · 23/05/2013 19:38

I think Vivian is traditionally the male version, but even that gets hijacked for girls Grin

colditz · 23/05/2013 19:54

Both sound like ponies
