not a fan

BNmum · 20/05/2013 12:56

I prefer Cosimo

BackforGood · 20/05/2013 12:58

I like Smudging's post Grin

(Presuming you wanted honest opinions, and not everyone to just say "Up to you" ?)

shoobidoo · 20/05/2013 12:58

I like Cosmo - cool, masculine, easy to spell/pronounce and not overused. What's not to like?

MomsNetCurtains · 20/05/2013 13:01

Depends on your surname and where you live really, IMO.

It does tend to make me think of a Catherine Tate sketch in Waitrose......"Come on Cosmo, come on Delphinium....we'll be late for Feng Shui class!"

OrangeFireandGoldashes · 20/05/2013 13:06

For me personally (not saying this would be the case for the majority) it has too many other references: the women's magazine, the Les Dawson character Cosmo Smallpiece and Rannaldini's monstrous son in Jilly Cooper's novels.

Absy · 20/05/2013 13:09

It works if the child is around 6 foot 4 with goofy hair and your surname is Kramer. Otherwise, no.

LippyDiDooDah · 20/05/2013 13:09

It's the name of my SIL's cat so I personally think of it as an animals name - sorry.

lurcherlover · 20/05/2013 13:11

Dibs (may be showing myself as a child of the 80s here).

TWinklyLittleStar · 20/05/2013 13:12

In this order:

  1. Women's magazine with questionable sex 'tips'
  2. Overly sweet cocktail popularized by Sex and the City
  3. 'isn't that Nigella Lawson's son? No wait, that's Bruno. Oh her daughter is Cosima.'
| | | | V 10000343. Something I would call a little boy. (sorry. But if you really like it, don't worry about my opinion.)
GaryBuseysTeeth · 20/05/2013 13:12

I like it, however the woman's mag & drink references have put me off it.

Cosmo is the awesome fairy godfather in Fairly Odd Parents!

Thanks for the link Succoria, I enjoyed that! I'm quite a bit in love with the name. Surname will be Black.

pygmy · 20/05/2013 13:46

oh and I like the nickname Oz

BunnyLebowski · 20/05/2013 13:49

It's ridiculously twattish.

I would snort and Hmm if I heard someone calling out "Cosmo" at the park.

With the surname Black I would go for Bernard. Hth.

Decoy · 20/05/2013 14:16

It makes me think of someone who's trying to make it clear how cosmopolitan they are.

TheseGoToEleven · 20/05/2013 14:17

I would think you were a Seinfeld fan.

chaya5738 · 20/05/2013 15:11

I think of Seinfield:

Cosmo Kramer

KittenofDoom · 20/05/2013 15:15

I quite like it.

Most of the references people are making go right over my head. I would never have thought of the magazine if no one had mentioned it - isn't it Cosmopolitan ? or have they changed the name?
I had forgotten all about the Les Dawson character, and most people will never hear it.

The first thing that popped into my head was Cosmo Lang, who was an Archbishop of Canterbury, I think.

Absy · 20/05/2013 16:38

IF you do go for Cosmo for this one, you could go for George or Elaine or Jerry or even Seven for any other DCs.

GoodbyePorkPie · 20/05/2013 17:11

I absolutely love this name. I have loved it since I was a teenager and have been saving it for my first born DS. Unfortunately it doesn't look like I'll have a DS.

Please go for it, OP!

GoodbyePorkPie · 20/05/2013 17:13

Oh I've just seen your surname. Do it, do it!!

CityGal29 · 20/05/2013 17:20

Fabulous!
