Kate's birth name is Catherine Elizabeth.
Her dad is Michael Francis, mum is Carole Elizabeth, Pippa is Phillipa Charlotte and brother is James William.

Any of these names could feature.

Just wiki'd, I'm supposed to be working Smile

Is it true that Charles won't be King Charles when he becomes King, that he's going to pick himeself another name to be King Somethingelse?

Don't be surprised if Kate's family aren't honoured at all. Traditionally, names from the "non Royal" side of the family don't feature, neither William nor Harry's names feature Diana's father's name (Edward John) at all.

Harry's first middle name is Charles, which is Diana's brother's name, but that was obviously after Prince Charles and not Diana's brother.

There were rumors that he had discussed the possibility privately, but his office has denied that he did.

Those are lovely names GaryBuseysTeeth.

I had heard that too about Charles picking the name George. I thought it was because it would give pleasure to his mother, admittedly would be odd referring to him as King George when all along he's been Prince Charles.

Alexandra Diana Elizabeth

James Charles Louis (for Mountbatten)

ThenWeTakeBerlin, well researched! Some of those names feature in the Royal Family too so probably increased likelihood that they could be picked. Wasn't Diana's middle name Frances or have I made that up?

I think that although they both are conformists, they do their own thing too (as long as it doesn't rock the boat) so wouldn't be surprised if they don't sneak in some Middleton family names!

Sorry to say it but Diana just isn't a regal name IMHO!

Report
FreedomOfTheTess · 25/04/2013 16:27

Diana isn't regal, and that's why however much some people want to see it, it won't feature as a first name.

Fine as a middle name, but if this first born is a girl, she won't be Diana. Queen Diana doesn't work.

Gazza - no you didn't make it up, her middle name was Frances.

I hope it's Queenie for a girl and Kingsley for a boy.

Queen Queenie
King Kingsley

Elizabeth is WAY too much pressure. I think that will be a middle name along with Diana and maybe Caroline (for Carole).

I think Alice, Alexandra or possible Mary for a girl.
George or Arthur for a boy.

Eleanor or Alice for a girl Smile

Not sure about boys Confused I thought George but possibly not if Charles is planning to use it Hmm

I think they're having a girl though Grin

Why on earth would Charles think that calling himself George would please his mother? She named him Charles, didn't she?! I can't see any reason why he would choose not to reign as Charles. The few monarchs who have not used their first names as regnal names had specific reasons.

I don't think the Cambridge baby will have more than four names. The Queen herself only has three. Four seems to be usual in the family, although Edward VIII had seven forenames. That was an exception: they included the four patron saints of the UK. Don't know whose idea that was!

I wouldn't rule out Charlotte, it ticks a lot of boxes. We would have had a Queen Charlotte had she not died young, and we have had a Queen Consort named Charlotte. It would honour Charles and, in a roundabout way, the maternal grandma, although Caroline would be a closer match for Carole and I wouldn't be surprised to see that one either.

Have you got Cassandra's soothsaying abilities, MimsyBorogroves!????

Report
SconeRhymesWithGone · 25/04/2013 21:16

I heard that the George thing was supposed to be to please his grandmother (Queen Mum), not his mother. He would be honoring her husband George VI.

I think Charlotte stands a very good chance if it is a girl.

Love Frances but could we have a British Queen called France(s)?!

So I'll plump for Mary Frances Elizabeth.

Report
NorthernLurker · 25/04/2013 22:11

I agree Charlotte or Caroline are really strong contenders. I think Albert will feature for a boy, for the Queen as it was her father's name.

Princess Frances sounds a bit comical.

I think theyll go for safe traditional names but with what will proclaimed to be an affectionately known as... in order to keep it youthful.
So:
Mary Elizabeth as Marielle / Marelle (and is a variation if Mary) but I can't seen Diana being in there, just invites too much comment.

James Albert with Jamie

KittenofDoom · 25/04/2013 22:14

Albert, hmmm, dunno. It's one of Prince Andrew's names, iirc. I think Philip is a certainty to feature if it's a boy. (He will have an Aunt Philippa too.)
