My money's on Elizabeth. Or Caroline.

I think Alexandra, with middle names of Elizabeth, Victoria and Aurelia. Don't know why Aurelia though!

Boy would be Alexander, with James, Phillip and Henry as middle names.

Put a boys name in but it's going to be a girl for sure!

Caroline, Mary, Alexandra or Elisabeth for a girl (or most likely)

Edward, George, Charles or Henry for a boy (or a combination)

They won't go for Richard I don't think because of the possibly unjust but still negative associations with Richard III.

Do we know what the middle names in the Middleton family are - they might get a look-in too as long as they are traditional enough...

I definitely think Elizabeth will not be used as a first name if it's a girl.

This child will be a monarch (regardless of gender), and I think they will absolutely want to give it a distinguishing feature from its great-grandmother, whose reign happened so recently. Huge shoes to fill, and you'd want to go a little out of your way to not invite comparisons since they're both women (again, assuming a girl).

Likewise, Victoria, really. Of course, monarchs don't always use their actual name once they become king/queen...

I'd like to think they will think outside the box a litle bit, so Adelaide or something along those lines. Having said that, Kate and Wills are notoriously well-behaved, toe-the-party-line types, so it's unlikely to be anything too radical.

Alfred or matilda.

I think it will be harder for them to pick a boys name as they will not want to name it after Williams brother Henry, or Charles' brother Andrew or Edward.

But I think they will look further back in the family tree so Alfred or maybe Arthur.

I'm thinking traditional like everyone else but would like it if they put Diana in it too :)

Albert or George
Elizabeth,Victoria Charlotte,Alice
I think a lot off suitable boys names Edward, James Henry are already in use within royal family so limits choice a little bit .

I don't think names like Richard are automatically ruled out because of negative associations. Not when the Queen named her eldest son Charles! :)

As regards monarchs not using their first name as regnal name, that's the exception rather than the rule. I can only think of Edward VII and George VI (both Alberts), and Victoria. Edward did not wish to use his father's name, and George took his father's name for continuity after the abdication crisis. Victoria's first name was Alexandrina but that was at the insistence of the Prince Regent (who seems to have been an utter nightmare over the naming of his niece), and she preferred to use her second name.

I think they might go for something Welsh in there somewhere - not sure what though.

Middle names Elizabeth Caroline Diana after the mums / grandma.

First name I think they seem the 'safe' types so maybe Alexandria.

Given that monarchs don't have to use their given name when they ascend to the throne (I believe Charles is planning on being George VII), I'd like them be a bit more creative in the first name spot, as the child will have plenty of normal middle names which they can use as their monarch name.

I'd love to see a Prince Augustine or Princess Georgiana.

It won't happen though, I know that.

NB: I'm due in mid-July, like Kate is said to be, and I'm hoping I have mine first. That way, even if they use Mary (the name we're planning on), at least we'll have got there first! Wink

Girl - Alice Sophie Rose Caroline Elizabeth (and possibly Phillipa ?)
Boy - Edward William Charles Philip Henry (and what's Kate's Dad's name ?)

(they usually have plenty and include everyone - but something more individual but still traditional as first name !)

I don't think they'll include Charlotte in the mix after watching the very sad story of Princess Charlotte's life told by Lucy Thingy the other day on TV.
